Welcome to the Men's League 2010 Season

Beware The Red Tee Next Week...

Jul 6, 2010 | Posted by Greg Baetz

That's right gentlemen, next week on the front nine we will be playing from the red tees.  Most of us will find ourselves in new places around the course and it will be great to see what the scores will be like.  You definitely want to stay of the most useless bastards scoring list next week!!!!  Bring your "A" games guys.

So another week has past us by and as I look at the leaderboard and it's still anybody's game to be won.  Participation will continue to play a key role in determining this year's winner so somebody better kick Team Bobby Jones in the ass and get their players out to the course and submit their scores.  For all the guys who came out and supported us this week in the extreme heat, thank you for showing your enthusiasm and support for the league.  The turnout was a little less than average but with summer holidays going on I hope that the 59 people that came out will be the lowest of the summer.  So if you know somebody who has joined the league but isn't coming out please let them know that it is important they show.  Also let them know that they may play their round on Sunday as well if they are not going to make it Tuesday.  You will still owe the $5 but the closest to the pin and gas can will not be available.

On a quick side note, please follow the direction of the starter/marshalls.  When 4 groups show up at the same time and expect to get our right away it is going to create a log jam on the tee.  They are their to keep things organized and it is much easier when people keep their cool and simply wait their turn.  Kind of like what we teach our kids if you think about it.  We do our best to keep things organized and moving and it is much simpler when people relax and cooperate.

Also, on Saturday July 31st Brant Valley is hosting a summer scramble which will start at 1pm.  There is a $5 fee for Brant Valley Members and for those of you who are not full members we are charging $30pp which includes cart.  There will be a small amount of prizes not based on scoring so come on out and bring a 4some for an afternoon of fun.  Conveniently you will be finished just in time to take part in our dinner and 70's themed show.  The cost for dinner and show is $40 and show only tickets are $20.  Where else could you have an entire day of fun and entertainment for under $75.  Proceeds from the show go towards the Cambridge District Humane Society.  See the proshop to purchase tickets to this great show.

Have a good week!!!!

What A Change A Week Makes...

May 20, 2010 | Posted by Greg Baetz

Hello everybody!!!!

What a change a week makes in terms of weather and the forecast is looking great for the long weekend as well.  We had 67 participants come out and enjoy a great day of golf and comraderie and even a few  burgers and beverages.  Thank you to all of you who take the time after their round to support our restaurant and bar.  We have a great menu this season so please take the time to take a look at it next time you are in.  There's bound to be something on there that will tempt you.

***Please note that there was a mistake made this week when we were entering scores.  Although we played on May 18th the scoring details are listed for this week are on May 11th.***  We should be back on track for next week.

Before I get started on the winners I would like to first apologize for the position of the gas can this week.  Thank you for those people that spoke to me about the distance to the can being a little too far for some people.  We will do our best to position the can in a more fair spot from now on.

I also want to make sure I mention about the great shape of the course this season.  Now I havn't been at this course long but I am hearing from a lot of long time members that it is in fantastic shape.  Most of the grounds crew play in the mens league so if you see them playing or working please let them know what you think of the course.

Congratulations to this week's closest to the pin and gas can winners.  Great shots are award to Mr. Al Pooley for a great shot on hole #6 and to Mr. Jay Howel for his accuracy on #5.  You may pick up your $25 Esso gift cards in the proshop at anytime.

Is anybody going to stop Team Ben Hogan?!?  After a great close battle they ended up winning the night as they did in week 1.  Some of you have not loaded your $4.50 from week 1 so while you are collecting $6 from this week be sure to ask about the money from week 1.

You may have noticed a money list on the right column of this page.  We will post all winnings accumulated by each person weekly.  This has no effect on the end of year prizes and is just for fun.  See how you stack up at the end of the year.

Congratulations to all the winners and again we would like to thank Esso for being a great sponsor for our league.

See you all on Tuesday

Its A Wash....

May 12, 2010 | Posted by Greg Baetz

Well, mother nature was not our friend this week as week 2 of our league was cancelled due to rain and the cold weather.  There were about 30 people that tried to brave the elements but did not finish their rounds and for the people that completed their 9 you are definatley troopers.  However since not enough players from each team finished their round the league was cancelled for the day.  For those of you who paid their $5 weekly fee we will hold that money until next week and for those of you who paid their Green fee you will get a raincheck for the next round you play as well.  Next week will be the front nine and the closest to prizes will be reset.  I hope to see you all next Tuesday!!!
