Welcome to the Men's Night 2009 Season

Final Update of 2009

Hello all,

Fist of all, on behalf of Trevor, Cameron Facer, and myself, I would like thank all of you for helping make this the most successful men's night in the history of Burlington Golf & Country Club.   The high level of participation has allowed us to pay over $18,000 in sweeps and prizes throughout the year.

I would like to take a minute to thank Cameron Facer.  His golf game always gave me material to write with.  Keep up the play Mr. Fazer.

All kidding aside, when him and I started talking about this in February we were both excited about this new format.  Mr. Facer, Trevor, and I met and discussed the various options for this year and we finally decided on the format.  Though this has been the most successful year, this does not mean we can't improve. I have read through the comments and we will consider some changes for next year.  I encourage everyone who has an idea to please pass it along to myself, Mr. Facer, or Trevor.

Rounding Third Base....

Two weeks down, one to go.  Jacks Hacks this week had another solid effort thus keeping first place in the upper pool while the Wednesday Wackers jumped two spots to claim first place over Into The Bottom.  This next week is what it all comes down to.  The money is ready to be handed out and no team is guaranteed to win their pool.  Lets make this last week great.  Here were the results of round two of the playoffs.

Pool A Team Scores
Position Team Score Playoff Points Won
1 Jacks Hacks 175 30
2 Team 12 179 24
3 Facers Useless Buzzards 180 18
4 Whats Da Soup Today 182 15
5 Fingers and Toes 185 12
6 Team 08 188 6

Pool B Team Scores
Position Team Score Playoff Points Won
1 Wednesday Wackers 178 30
2 Team 10 180 24
3 Team 06 184 18
4 Team 04 188 15
5 Amos Golf Sluts 197 12
6 Into The Bottom 205 6

The final week will see 40 points go to the winning team of each pool so come out and support the effort. Here are the standing going into the final week.

Pool A Standings

Position Team Initial Points Points Won Part/Week Part/Playoffs Total
1 Jacks Hacks 213 48 10 20 281
2 Team 12 210 34 8 18 262

4 Facers Useless Buzzards 202 26 7 16 244
5 Fingers and Toes 194 24 8 19 237
6 Team 08 194 24 7 17 235

Pool B Standings

Position Team Initial Points Points Won Part/Week Part/Playoffs Total
1 Wednesday Wackers 161 46 8 15 222

4 Amos Golf Sluts 165 18 6 14 197
5 Team 04 149 27 7 13 189
6 Team 06 121 38 8 16 175

So let’s get started…

Dave Livermore knows how to show up when needed, firing a 36 on the front to corner the Low Gross honors for the week. Guess he was inspired by playing with our HP and decided to take his game to a whole new level.

UPDATE:

Our favorite captain was once again at the top of the Useless Bastards board.

Moving on….

Low Net belonged to Mike Macey, coming in off the front with a 31 net. That will definitely help the cause. Good shooting. The final Men’s League day will be next week followed by the closing dinner.  Everyone should have received their invitation and we encourage everyone to attend this party.  Cocktails will be at 7:00 followed by dinner at 8:00.  Please sign up on the club website or send me an email at dkoschir@burlingtongolfclub.com   to reserve your tee time and dinner reservation.

Thanks again for another great week.

Until next week…..

Don't quit now.

The playoffs are here, the pools are set, now is the time for your team to make a move.  As we saw yesterday, anything can happen in the playoffs with this format.  2 Teams made a climb in the rankings, there are a lot of points out there to be had, all you need to do is show up and help your team grab some points.  There will be $3,900 up for grabs for the yearly prizes so don’t quit on your team now.

The results for the playoffs are located on a new tab to the right of the “Season” drop down menu.  Here you will find the latest standings for you and your team.  The pools and their respective standings after the first week are as follows:

 So let’s get started……

Pool A Standings

Position Team Initial Points Points Won Part/Week Part/Playoffs Total
1 Jacks Hacks 213 18 10 10 241
2 Whats Da Soup Today 224 4 7 7 235
3 Team 12 210 10 9 9 229
4 Team 08 194 18 10 10 222
5 Facers Useless Buzzards 202 8 9 9 219
6 Fingers and Toes 194 12 11 11 217

Pool B Standings

Position Team Initial Points Points Won Part/Week Part/Playoffs Total
1 Into The Bottom 179 10 8 8 197
2 Team 10 173 8 6 6 187
3 Wednesday Wackers 161 16 7 7 184
4 Amos Golf Sluts 165 4 8 8 177
5 Team 04 149 12 6 6 167
6 Team 06 121 20 7 7 148

With the golf course being prepped for Club Championship, 98 players saw some very quick greens.  Let’s hope Mother Nature keeps giving us this nice weather throughout the long weekend.

After a solid 39 last week, DSG, followed up his stellar performance with a 48 on the front nine to give his team absolutely nothing in the scoring department.  Thank god for the participation point, eh!  This was really hard to believe, seeing how he played with the best putter in Ontario, who didn’t submit a score.  By the way, the Mr. Galea’s 48 was his net score.

48 Net + 7 Handicap = Another series with Pat Ledbruder

On the subject of numbers, here is a small quiz for you all. What is the relation between Mr. Facer and 646574965? If you guessed his front nine score you would be correct. Nice of your captain to raise his level of play for the playoffs.

45 Net + 7 Handicap = Another series with Trevor.

I don’t need to go into details on how these lessons work, all you need to know is yesterday, Trevor’s student did not have the “Commitment to Excellence” that he demands. I guess back to the drawing board…. 2 words Mr. Fazer, Participation Point.

2 players who did show up were Brad Chisholm and Mike Fernie, both posting a 36 on the outward nine. Could this be a preview for the weekend? Keep up the pace boys.

Until next week…..

What were the results and the pay-outs for Sept.2nd?

Back At It

A partly cloudy warm summer day saw 90 Men’s League participants test their skills.  After a week off, the competition was back on once again.  Team Whats Da Soup Today took the lead over from Jacks Hacks 2 weeks ago and now has an 11 point lead going into the final couple weeks. Remember the points you earn will go towards the playoffs, so keep the participation up. The standings are as follows.

Position Team Win Loss Tie Part/Week Part/Year Total
1 Whats Da Soup Today 10 4 0 8 124 224
2 Jacks Hacks 9 5 0 8 123 213
3 Team 12 8 6 0 9 130 210
4 Facers Useless Buzzards 8 6 0 8 122 202
T5 Team 08 7 6 1 10 119 194
T5 Fingers and Toes 7 7 0 9 124 194
7 Into The Bottom 6 6 2 8 109 179
8 Team 10 6 7 1 3 108 173
9 Amos Golf Sluts 7 7 0 6 95 165
10 Wednesday Wackers 5 9 0 8 111 161
11 Team 04 5 9 0 9 99 149
12 Team 06 4 10 0 4 81 121

Terry Gibb was the overall best performer on the day, posting an even par 37 to net out at 28. Quite impressive.  Dave Galea also played well, posting a 39. There would be no “Port Carling Blow Up” on this day. This score was good enough to beat junior by 5. At this pace they will both fighting it out in “B” Flight in Club Championship. Keep up the good work.

With the playoffs starting next week we will post both the pool pairings in the next couple days.

Team prizes were as follows:

1st Jacks Hacks - $53.00

2nd Team 8 - $25.00

3rd Into The Bottom - $21.00

Thanks to everyone who showed up this week.

Until next week.....
