Welcome to the Men's Night 2009 Season
Sep 19, 2009 | Posted by DerekFinal Update of 2009Hello all, Fist of all, on behalf of Trevor, Cameron Facer, and myself, I would like thank all of you for helping make this the most successful men's night in the history of Burlington Golf & Country Club. The high level of participation has allowed us to pay over $18,000 in sweeps and prizes throughout the year. I would like to take a minute to thank Cameron Facer. His golf game always gave me material to write with. Keep up the play Mr. Fazer. All kidding aside, when him and I started talking about this in February we were both excited about this new format. Mr. Facer, Trevor, and I met and discussed the various options for this year and we finally decided on the format. Though this has been the most successful year, this does not mean we can't improve. I have read through the comments and we will consider some changes for next year. I encourage everyone who has an idea to please pass it along to myself, Mr. Facer, or Trevor. The final prizes are as follows. Individual Prizes Low Gross 1st Mike Fernie $150 2nd Brad Chisholm $100 (or 2.5 iron re-shafts) 3rd Mike Hall $50 Low Net 1st Jack Stanborough $150 2nd Dave van Wely $100 3rd Mo Ali $50 Team Prizes: Regular Season 1st What’s Da Soup Today Tom Allen $54 Bob Bosworth $54 Wayne Candy $72 Barry Dawkins $72 David Frid $54 Don Hindmarch $48 Mike Jenkins $66 Bert Lavigne $72 Ace Milne $66 Mike Penner $24 Stan Seneco $72 Ron Seymour $48 Doug Wilson $48 2nd Jacks Hacks Brad Chisholm $51 (or 1.25 iron re-shafts) Brian Cross $43 Bill Dayman $40 Pat Donnell $15 Mel Griffin $36 Paul Hammond $40 Steve Kirchner $43 Jack Litton $51 Rui Luis $15 John Rosart $43 Glen Swire $36 Al Taylor $43 3rd Team 12 Derrick Bartram $32 Bryan Bennett $23 Kevin Blakey $25 Ben Carruthers $28 Mike Hall $25 Jack Hanna $28 George Major $32 Rob McCullough $12 Peter Murdza $23 Drew Nameth $23 Harry Walsh $21 Tony Zeitler $27 Team Prizes: Post Season (Pool A) 1st Jacks Hacks Brad Chisholm $133 (or 4 iron re-shafts) Brian Cross $117 Bill Dayman $110 Pat Donnell $47 Mel Griffin $94 Paul Hammond $109 Steve Kirchner $117 Jack Litton $117 Rui Luis $32 John Rosart $117 Glen Swire $102 Al Taylor $102 2nd Whats Da Soup Today Tom Allen $48 Bob Bosworth $52 Wayne Candy $71 Barry Dawkins 62 David Frid $52 Don Hindamarch $52 Mike Jenkins $67 Bert Lavigne $71 Ace Milne $67 Mike Penner $19 Stan Seneco $67 Ron Seymour $43 Doug Wilson $48 3rd Team 12 Derrick Bartram $53 Bryan Bennett $34 Kevin Blakey $43 Ben Carruthers $40 Mike Hall $40 Jack Hanna $46 George Major $50 Rob McCullough $16 Peter Murdza $40 Drew Nameth $40 Harry Walsh $33 Tony Zeitler $46 Team Prizes: Post Season (Pool B) 1st Wednesday Wackers Lee Brain $22 Jeff Carubba $39 Lorne Childs $66 Chris Coons $39 John Fitzsimmons $50 John Gordon $77 Adrian Jayne $72 Peter Jeffery $83 Barry O’Brien $39 Scott Patrick $83 Chris Regan $83 Bud Smith $22 Paolo Zulian $77 2nd Into The Bottom Duncan Bell $24 Don Bowder $41 Hector Del Castillo $3 Ron Goslin $37 Gord Kack $7 Joe Kennedy $44 Venti Louisy $27 Fraser McClellan $54 Jamie Myers $24 Geoff Oliver $47 Larry Pedlar $47 Alexander Polimac $47 Rick Taylor $51 3rd Team 10 Dan Douglas $23 Gord Gerry $30 Bill Griffin $25 Jim Hannan $28 John Kosiancic $28 Mike Macey $32 Larry Matthews $14 Jim McClellan $39 Brian McParland $28 Bill Pearson $12 Paul Rowe $32 Domenic Tesone $9 In closing I would like thank everyone for their continued support of the Men’s night here at Burlington. Posted by: Loved the league this year! | Sep 20, 2009 03:25 PMWonderful job this year boys! A sincered thank you to everyone who got this thing started and for doing all the work. It's about time we had a little camaraderie around here and the participation this year was great. Let's keep it going for next year.
Sep 10, 2009 | Posted by DerekRounding Third Base....Two weeks down, one to go. Jacks Hacks this week had another solid effort thus keeping first place in the upper pool while the Wednesday Wackers jumped two spots to claim first place over Into The Bottom. This next week is what it all comes down to. The money is ready to be handed out and no team is guaranteed to win their pool. Lets make this last week great. Here were the results of round two of the playoffs.
The final week will see 40 points go to the winning team of each pool so come out and support the effort. Here are the standing going into the final week.
Pool A Standings
Pool B Standings
So let’s get started… Dave Livermore knows how to show up when needed, firing a 36 on the front to corner the Low Gross honors for the week. Guess he was inspired by playing with our HP and decided to take his game to a whole new level. UPDATE: Our favorite captain was once again at the top of the Useless Bastards board. Moving on….
Low Net belonged to Mike Macey, coming in off the front with a 31 net. That will definitely help the cause. Good shooting. The final Men’s League day will be next week followed by the closing dinner. Everyone should have received their invitation and we encourage everyone to attend this party. Cocktails will be at 7:00 followed by dinner at 8:00. Please sign up on the club website or send me an email at dkoschir@burlingtongolfclub.com to reserve your tee time and dinner reservation. Thanks again for another great week. Until next week…..

| 0 Comments Sep 3, 2009 | Posted by DerekDon't quit now.The playoffs are here, the pools are set, now is the time for your team to make a move. As we saw yesterday, anything can happen in the playoffs with this format. 2 Teams made a climb in the rankings, there are a lot of points out there to be had, all you need to do is show up and help your team grab some points. There will be $3,900 up for grabs for the yearly prizes so don’t quit on your team now. The results for the playoffs are located on a new tab to the right of the “Season” drop down menu. Here you will find the latest standings for you and your team. The pools and their respective standings after the first week are as follows: Pool A Standings
Pool B Standings
With the golf course being prepped for Club Championship, 98 players saw some very quick greens. Let’s hope Mother Nature keeps giving us this nice weather throughout the long weekend. After a solid 39 last week, DSG, followed up his stellar performance with a 48 on the front nine to give his team absolutely nothing in the scoring department. Thank god for the participation point, eh! This was really hard to believe, seeing how he played with the best putter in Ontario, who didn’t submit a score. By the way, the Mr. Galea’s 48 was his net score. 48 Net + 7 Handicap = Another series with Pat Ledbruder On the subject of numbers, here is a small quiz for you all. What is the relation between Mr. Facer and 646574965? If you guessed his front nine score you would be correct. Nice of your captain to raise his level of play for the playoffs. 45 Net + 7 Handicap = Another series with Trevor. I don’t need to go into details on how these lessons work, all you need to know is yesterday, Trevor’s student did not have the “Commitment to Excellence” that he demands. I guess back to the drawing board…. 2 words Mr. Fazer, Participation Point. 2 players who did show up were Brad Chisholm and Mike Fernie, both posting a 36 on the outward nine. Could this be a preview for the weekend? Keep up the pace boys. Until next week….. Aug 28, 2009 | Posted by DerekBack At ItA partly cloudy warm summer day saw 90 Men’s League participants test their skills. After a week off, the competition was back on once again. Team Whats Da Soup Today took the lead over from Jacks Hacks 2 weeks ago and now has an 11 point lead going into the final couple weeks. Remember the points you earn will go towards the playoffs, so keep the participation up. The standings are as follows.
Terry Gibb was the overall best performer on the day, posting an even par 37 to net out at 28. Quite impressive. Dave Galea also played well, posting a 39. There would be no “Port Carling Blow Up” on this day. This score was good enough to beat junior by 5. At this pace they will both fighting it out in “B” Flight in Club Championship. Keep up the good work. With the playoffs starting next week we will post both the pool pairings in the next couple days. Team prizes were as follows: 1st Jacks Hacks - $53.00 2nd Team 8 - $25.00 3rd Into The Bottom - $21.00
Thanks to everyone who showed up this week.
Until next week.....
