Welcome to the new and improved Wednesday Games for 2008.  The committee has a couple of new things planned for this year which should help us keep up with the phenomenal growth of the league.

     The team scoring will remain the same other than one small change.  For 2008, the team score will be determined by the total of the 2 lowest gross scores and the 4 lowest net scores.  (In 2007 we used 1 gross and 3 net)  As always teams earn one participation point for every player that turns in a score regardless of their performance.  I think the prospect of an additional gross score will make the draft that much more interesting and it will obviously allow one more guy to contribute to the team score.

                                                                       New for 2008... Playoffs!

     What we are most excited about is our plan to introduce a playoff format to the Wednesday Games.  Our hope is that the playoffs will provide a spark to the last few weeks of the regular season as teams push to improve their position in the standings. Because there will be additional points available for the playoffs we should see more movement in the standings giving more teams a chance to finish in the money.  The playoff format is based loosely on the Fedex Cup.  At the conclusion of the 13 week round-robin, teams will be seeded in either Pool A or Pool B depending on where they finished.   Ideally, we would like to see a 3 or 4 week playoff but, of course, it depends on the weather throughout the summer.  Once the playoff pools are established teams will compete against every team in their pool rather than our regular-season head-to-head match ups.  The higher a team finishes for the week the more points they earn.    The playoffs will build towards our first Wednesday Games Major Championship on Wednesday September 10th when the number of points available will be increased.  I promise to bring everyone up to speed on the playoffs as the season continues.  The committee is confident this playoff system will serve to spice things up as the season winds down.

                                                                       Wednesday Games Draft

     The draft is scheduled for Sunday June 1st.  In order to protect the integrity of the draft it’s important that anyone who plans to participate writes their name on the sign-up sheet regardless of whether or not they are coming to the actual opening day on June 11th.  Organizing a draft of this size is very time consuming so please get your name in early.
