2009 Conestoga Men’s Night “Playoffs”

It’s hard to believe that there are only 8 weeks left in the Men’s Night schedule this year. There are 3 regular scheduled weeks, 5 playoff weeks and then the final wrap-up evening remaining.

As everyone is aware, this is our first year running men’s night as a team format, and we feel that the following “Playoff Format” will be the most fair for everyone.

There are 16 teams in the league. We will be dividing the league into 2 pools: Pool A and Pool B. Teams finishing in 1st – 8th  place will play against each other & teams finishing in 9th – 16th place will play against each other in their respective brackets. The playoffs will run for 5 consecutive weeks commencing September 2, 2009  - September 30, 2009. The final wrap up night is on October 7th, 2009 – watch for details.

Each week the following points will be handed out to each team in each bracket:

Week 2 Pts

The playoffs will have the same score keeping as the “FedEx Cup”. The weeks will not be played as a match play event for the playoffs. The total final score will determine which place your team finishes and the amount of points your team receives. Each week the point total will increase by approximately 25% to give teams the opportunity to gain some ground. These points, as well as your team’s participation points, will be added every week to your point total. Your team’s point total at the end of the 5th week will determine your final position.  Keep in mind if your team is in the “B bracket,” the best place you can finish overall is 9th. So as a result, the next few weeks are crucial for the teams sitting close to the “A bracket” cutoff.

Once the final standings are in place, each team member goes up to the prize table individually. The person who has the highest participation for playing in the most weeks will go up to the prize table first. That format will continue until all participants get up to the prize table. In the case of an individual tie, your lowest net average score for the year will break the tie. In the case of a team tie, the team with the most participation points for the entire year will determine the tiebreak. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. A formal announcement will occur August 19th, 2009 after the shotgun.

Regards,

Brian and Chad

Nice touch with pasta buffet after round yesterday! Needed it after listening to Doug Bergman for nine holes. LOL.

Thank you Brian and Chad for doing such a fabulous job and helping me, a newcomer to your men's league feel 100% welcome. I've had the opportunity to meet some really great guys, and I'm the lucky one in the league having Klaus Schaloske as my "coach". Great opportunity to win prizes, share some laughs and witness some fantastic shots!!! Brian/Chad... Thanks for the extra effort this past Wedneday, June 17th the hot pasta, it hit the spot after a chilly round!!!! Cheers!!!!

Brian and Chad: This has been a great season so far and you guys are doing a great job. Are you planning on realigning the teams at the half way point. Some teams are getting good representation from their members and some are not. Also, as the season progresses we have a better handle on the handicap of all golfers. I would recommend you look at all this information and realign the teams based upon their handicaps. This will even out the season and make it more fun for everyone. Wayne Short
