Welcome to the Women's League 2010 Season

The Difference Between Men & Women...

Jun 28, 2010 | Posted by An Anonymous Blogger

Great start to the season so far ladies!   The weather finally cooperated this week and we had 49 players.

Thanks very much to this past weeks sponsor Main Attraction for their support of the Ladies League.  The closest to the hole and longest putt were won by  Fran Kelly and Joanne Vleuten.  The winning Team this Week was Captained by Cathy Thompson who narrowly beat out two 2nd place teams Captained by Jackie Mote and Jeannie Wilford.  Members of the winning team received $15 on their account with the two 2nd place teams receiving $5 each.

The difference between the golf-playing sexes is an ongoing debate in my household.  By the way, when it comes to discussing golf related issues with my spouse I’ll have you know I’ve reduced the number of my theories for successfully debating a sensitive topic down to two.  Neither one works.  So anyway, in her opinion, there is a fundamental difference in how men and women process information on the golf course.  She believes women tend to be intuitive players who consider multiple sources of information while viewing elements in terms of their interconnectedness.  To the contrary, she insists that male players have a linear or sequential perspective and view elements as less interconnected and more independent.  My position is that women tend to be intuitive players who consider multiple sources of information while viewing elements in terms of their interconnectedness and men appreciate the importance of the really, really big TV that sits on the wall in the lounge.

Well...  What is The Difference Between Men and Women?

A little while ago someone sent me this story.  I thought it summed up the difference nicely… A man was out for Men’s Night one Thursdayy when he began the round with an eagle followed by a tap-in birdie on # 2. He had just addressed the ball on # 3 when his cell phone rang (let’s change that to vibrated – I wouldn’t want the poor bastard to get a letter).  It was a doctor notifying him that his wife had just been in a terrible accident and she was lying in critical condition in the ICU.  The man told the doctor to let his wife know where he was and that he'd be there as soon as possible.  As he hung up he realized he was leaving what was shaping up to be his best round ever and, perhaps more importantly, if he left now his team would be denied his all important participation point.  Now, that's a dilemma.  He decided he would finish the front and then high-tail it over to the hospital.  Our hero played like a young Rob Mason, posting in the process, the lowest gross score of the week – a personal best 32.  It was then that he remembered his wife.  Petrified, he quickly downed his free drink (he easily beat the pro by a cool 2 shots), carefully checked the TV to make sure his score had been posted correctly and then sped to the hospital to look for the doctor who had called about his wife's condition.  The doctor, as you might expect, really came down on the poor guy.

"You went ahead and finished the front nine didn't you?!?  While you were playing in Men’s Night your wife has been languishing in the ICU!  Well sir, it's probably just as well you went ahead and finished because it will most likely be your last!  For the rest of her life your wife will require "round the clock" care.  I swear, if there’s any justice in this world, you will be her care giver!"

The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and sobbed.  The doctor waited for a moment, snickered and then said quietly, "Just playing with you, man.  She's been dead for hours… so, what'd you shoot?"   That, my friends, is the difference between men and women.

Play well,

Sounds like it was written by a man but it's still pretty funny! Let's keep it going girls we're having a good season so far.
