Welcome to the Men's Night 2008 Season

SWATFEST 2008

Aug 21, 2008 | Posted by The Committee

The SWATFEST is scheduled for 4:00 pm Wednesday September 3rd.  The SWATFEST is only open to members of the Men's League !!

This will be great fun and here is how it works in a nut shell:

All players who sign up will be seeded by their Men's Night handicap index from low to high.

Partnerships will be determined by taking the player with the lowest Men's Night handicap and pairing him with the player with the highest Men's Night handicap.  The player with the next lowest Men's Night handicap will be paired with the player with the second highest Men's Night handicap AND SO ON until all players are teamed up.  The list of teams will not be released until just prior to the 4:00 p.m. launch so don't even ask.  That's part of the fun.

We are expecting at least 60 players to sign up.  If that is the case, there will be thirty two-man teams.

All teams will receive one golf ball with a number on it that's the size of Arnold Palmer's prostate.   All teams will then hit off the 1st tee (30 BALLS IN PLAY).  The format is straight ALTERNATE SHOT.   Either member of the team can tee off the 1st hole but the other member has to tee off on the 2nd.

IMPORTANT...  If your team makes a double bogey or worse on holes 1 through 4 the team is eliminated.  If your team hits the ball into a hazard - your team is eliminated.  If you lose the ball - your team is eliminated.

The SWATFEST is one of the great formats in golf that simply has to be seen to be believed so please do everything in your power to attend.  You will have a blast.  This format will be followed until there is only 1 team left standing.  A full explanation of the rules will be posted in the Men's locker room.

SIGN UP IN THE LOCKER ROOM NOW !

Boys: I wasn't so sure about this SWATFEST thing but I have to admit I loved it! Great work with the Men's Night this year and thanks for all of the work. I can hardly wait for next year. J.B.

THE PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

Aug 8, 2008 | Posted by The Committee

The Playoffs are here for the 2008 Men,s League.

The teams at the top of the standings are starting off with a cushion but all teams are still in the hunt.

Our playoffs are structured after the FEDEX CUP.  Teams start the playoffs with the same number of points that they finished the regular season with.

HERE IS THE KICKER.... We will no longer have a team vs team format.  The last 3 weeks will be contested in more of a "medal play" format with every team playing one another simultaneously.  Points will be earned based on where you finish week by week.

The points will be awarded as follows:    1st - 30pts,  2nd - 25pts,  3rd - 21pts,  4th - 18 pts,    5th - 15 pts,  6th - 13 pts,  7th - 11 pts,  8th - 9 pts,  9th - 7 pts,  10th - 5 pts.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party!!!  Call on your boys and make sure that they are up for the challange!   This could start to get real interesting folks !

Mother nature has certainly been teasing us the last couple of weeks, I swear I saw an ARK going down the 18th fairway this week…but it turned out to just be a remote cart with animal head-covers…

Despite the weather, over 80 players managed to complete the 9 holes, some actually started and stopped and started and stopped and finally finished,,,to those guys..our cudos for perseverance.

It was a close finish and the seeing eye dogs..i mean the “Eye of the Tigers” saw their way to victory by a single stroke over the Angry Boys.  I can imagine losing by one stroke that perhaps they were pissed…or was that the 10 dollar beer?

With much sadness I noted that the Dics failed to rise to the occasion, I suspect Conley will be handing out little blue pills next week from his personal supply.

On the individual side..

John “Pinky Tuscadaro” Kirkwood held on for low gross despite Kevins valiant attempt to usurp the king from the throne.

One source in the pro shop who will remain unnamed (code name is RED) was quoted as saying

“He played a great round and finished with all his clubs..is that a first this season?”

To Herb M…great shot on #2 to win closest to the hole…it wasn’t that close despite Dan yelling to “stretch the tape tight”

This weekend is the Club Championship and I personally wish everyone the best of luck and hope I see you all at the bar afterwards.  After the pressure of Wednesday Nights, this weekend should be a breeze… at least no one calls you a useless bastard publicly during the championship!

Captains Corner

KoKo set the example for his team with a great net 34 in soggy conditions. On the other end of the spectrum…Randy and Frank had a wee struggle with the conditions and we wish them a fast recovery next week.

I have a challenge for the captains. I believe that captains should be held in high esteem for the lofty position they hold and as such, I suggest a final day Captains match, one in which the winning captain and his team are waited on in the lounge by the losing captains…all the while proclaiming the winner “the king of captains” If you like the idea, let Rick M know so it can be arranged.
