Welcome to the Men's Night 2010 Season
Fly like an EagleJul 14, 2010 | Posted by `CommitteeThe rain finally decided to dry up for this weeks Men’s League, and now it’s getting down to crunch time. Blue Light is taking the lead with 156 points, with Labatts Blue creeping up behind them at 154. Labatts Genuine Draft, Stella Artois, and Keith’s Premium White needs to step up their game, to throw Blue Light to the bottom.
There are several highlights for this week Men’s League. Blue Light confidence in the game shut down, now that Stella Artois has finally trampled them. Jeremy Logel redeemed himself by shooting a 35. The winner of this week’s Hot Shot of the Week was Jim Thompson who hit a pitching wedge at 135 yards and shot an eagle on hole #2. The skin winners this week for A-Flight were Jay Cressman 2 on 3, Kyle Rank 3 on 9 and Jeremy Logel 4 on 5. The skin winners for B-Flight were Jason Lindo 3 on 1, Mike Sanderson 3 on 7, and Jeff Snyder 4 on 5.
Let’s hope the weather holds up for the rest of the season. Hustle up boys; let’s see everyone out next week and get more participation points up!
Now that everyone has played each other once a random draw will be done to see you play who for the next 3 weeks. Following the next 3 weeks (4 if you include July 28th where there is no men’s day) Teams will be split in to 2 pools. In Pool A teams that as seeded 1through 5 will play each other for the last 4 weeks and in pool B teams seeded 6 through 10 will face each other. This format will allow for great competition and give teams a chance to jockey themselves in to a higher position in the standings.

Not a good week for pros. Cam Allen, for the first time, was not the Low gross on his team, he was instead, the highest net score on his team to count. Chad Sorbara, Shot a 39 and was a useless bastard for the second week in a row. And Jeremy Logel, director of golf, was a useless bastard with a 40. Despite all their shortcomings, only four players were capable of beating our lowest scoring on the pro, Cam Allen’s 37.
The top team this week was Bud Light Lime (168), lead by Captain Clark McAlpine’s (35), and the two low sandbaggers Tyler Meadows (31) and Bill Pettigrew (32). Second Place goes to Keith’s Premium White (170) which was somehow achieved while still having the highest net, Jason Andress (45) and useless pro Chad Sorbara. 3rd goes to Stella Artois (172), lead by Captain Kyle Rank (33) and Byron Loney (33)
Blue Light Continues their undefeated streak, finishing in a draw with Keith’s Red Amber Ale this week, leaving their record 6-0-1, while Budweiser still has yet to win a match. This could be due to their low participation scores, as some teams have proved, more people increases the chances of better scores.
Hot Shot Of the Week:
Mark Bauman was being attacked by a vary determines Red Wing Black Bird, even getting pecked a few times. This must have been a sign, While struggling to focus on the task at hand Mark Bauman in between vicious dive bomb attacks was able to make an eagle while fending off a birdie! Normally we only award the hotshot of the week for a shot on the front 9 but due to lack of "Hot" shots submitted, Mark's Story was definitely worthy!
Skins this week:
A Flight
Kyle Rank: Birdies on #3 and #9 for $15
Clark McAlpine: Birdie On # 5 for $15
B Flight
Scott Mcleod: Birdie on #6 for $33
Richard Wastell: Birdie on #7 for $33
Gord Cousineau: Birdie on #9 for $33
Anyone else sick of rain?

Once again, Wednesday came, and so did the rain and wind. Playing conditions this week rivaled those of the past two, while scores didn’t look a whole lot different either. Kyle Rank, shot the low gross this week, 33 for the third week in a row, beating our low scoring pro, Cam Allen, yet again. Mark Whittrick also beat our low scoring pro for the 2nd week in a row.
Blue light’s winning streak continues this week; they are now 6-0. Somehow, during that huge winning streak, the team hasn’t managed to rake in any cash.
Low Net this week belongs to Martin Hynd, who posted 31 Net, helping his team take the win over Bud Light Lime, who are on a four week losing streak. Pull it together guys.
The HOT SHOT of the week:
June 9th - Jake Snyder with a holed out 2nd for eagle on #1
June 16th - Pat Bishop holed out on # 7 from 30 yds.

May 26th
The hot weather this men’s day brought out more golfers than previous weeks, and brought about some lower scores. Captain Harry Barnes shot a gross score (28) lower than the daytime high of 30, while team member Mark Whittrick had the lowest gross score of 33, leading Keiths IPA to a team score of 161 (19 under!).
We’re glad to see that one of our most useless bastards from last week, Don Hardcastle, stepped up his game, from a net score of 47 last week, to 32 this week. I guess the strategy of padding your handicap can really help.
6 players (Mark Whittrick, Kyle Rank, Doug Painter, Jim Laidley and Brian Steele and Jason Forget) this week beat Jeremy Logel, out lowest scoring pro who shot 37.
In the team standings this week, Bud Light Lime has been pushed out of first place with their embarrassing defeat, the team shooting 184, a full 13 points higher than the week before. While Blue Light pulled into the lead with a commanding 5 point victory over Labatt’s Blue.
Hope the weather is as nice next Wednesday as it was this week, and we hope to see you out here next week, posting excellent scores on hopefully just as nice a day.
Hot Shot of the Week:
This week’s winner is Doug Painter. Doug’s hot shot was nominated by playing partner Jim Laidley.
“On the ninth, Doug Painter hit his approach from about 110 yds to a foot to get back to even par for the front (yes he made the putt).”
Congratulations Doug, I will have you St. Louis Bar & Grill $25 gift card for you shortly!
