"The ED EX CUP" Week #1

Sep 3, 2009 | Posted by Greg Thacker

Good Day Gentlemen,

Iron Eagles take the lead in Week#1 of "The ED EX CUP".............actually the Iron Eagles led by Jeff Gates tied with a total score of 210 with The Parfects led by Doug Ridsdale, however, once again participation plays an integral part of the scoring system.  Iron Eagles had one more player for the first week of the playoffs giving them a slim one point margin heading into Week#2!!(see standings under Playoffs).  Remember, the point structure increases as we go to week#2 and again in week#3 so anything can happen.

Specialty Prizes for Playoff Week#1:

It seems the Pros are getting tired and a couple more beer tickets went "out the door" this week.  Congratulations to Scott Johnstone(33) and Troy Dempsey(34) for beating the pro!!!

The Closest to the Bubba continues thru the playoffs.....Dale Benson found his way nearest the cooler......way to go Dale....a large beer stein is waiting for you in the golf shop.

Low Net:        Dave "Crow" Ross with a beeline 32

Low Gross:     Scott Johnstone with a blistering 33

MUB Award:    Perry Tibbo gets the honor with a bubbling 47 (honorable mention to Garry Bell)

CTP#4:             Greg  "Little Goader" Goad

CTP#8:             Dave "Woody" Wood.....say pecker?

The Hole in One Fund is now over $2500 per nine!!!!!!!

Captains:  remeber to get you weekly prizes into the golf shop A.S.A.P!!!!

Well......we will keep this one short.......good luck in Week#2.........

Thanks for listening......

MEMBERS OF PETE'S PISTOLS, WE NEED TO INCREASE OUR PARTICIPATION IN THE UPCOMING WEEKS!!!! LETS GET OUT THERE AND HELP THE TEAM, YOUR ABSENCES ARE KILLING US.

Regular Season Ends with Pocket Aces!!!!!

Aug 28, 2009 | Posted by Greg Thacker

Well, the regular season has come to an end and we are off to the playoffs.  The playoff weeks are Wednesday September 2nd ,9th and 16th, so come out and support your team.  NOTE TO CAPTAINS-  The specialty prizes for the week are needed before the end of the playoffs........each captain is responsible for 5 prizes @ a value of $25.00 each = $125.00.  Please bring these to the golf shop as soon as possible.  Each week's winner of the Low Gross, Low Net, Closest to the Pins and Most Usless Bastard will receive one of these prizes at the closing day festivities.  To date, Mr. Doug Ridsdale of the Parfects is the only captain to donate their prizes!!  The playoff format is described at the bottom of this blog and included in the final week will be a $2.00 entry for a blind partner 9 Hole Net Better Ball Event.  More information on the final night will be forwarded as we get closer to the day!!

The final regular season week ended with a bang as Doug Cameron and Hey....yours truly........making a ONE on #11.......let be known that Doug Cameron cut ME OFF as I performed the task at 7:15am!!!  Unfortunately neither of us pocketed any cash as the back 9 holes for the fund are #14 & #16.....so the pot grows for the Men's Night hole in one fund and currently sits at $2440.50 per nine!!!

Anyhow, on to the results for Week #10.........Of 1278 posted scores for the regular season(including pros)....Mike Deighan became the sole winner of a Labatts beer ticket for "Beat the Pro"!!!....congrats to Mike for firing a 33 on the nine surpassing Rob Moore's 34. However, Dave Anthony did not play the final week due to some indescribable "injury", so Mike did not "beat" all the pros but well done, especially coming off the MUB award from the week before....quite a turnaround!!

Low Gross:    Mike Deighan        33

Low Net:        Rick Mathis         28

MUB:              Dennis Cullen      45

CTP#14:        Rick Mathis

CTP#16:        Terry Wichman

Closest to the Bubba for the final week goes to Bryan Kowalchuk(spelt right).........and for those who were lucky enough to win this pretigeous prize and have not claimed their beer stein, please see the golf shop.

Iron Eagles - Captain(Jeff Gates) win the regualr season event with a total of 207 points for the year.  Congratulations to the entire team who as I have mentioned on several occasions, led the year in participation with 137 of a possible 160 scores posted!!!  Second place goes to Team Foreplay-Captain(Scott Johnstone), his team amassed 192 points.  Iron Eagles receive $37.50 per player while Team Foreplay will get $25.00 per player for their efforts.

The low totals for the week:

The Lunatics of the Links @ 201 receiving $16.50 per player

The Iron Eagles @ 207 receiving $11.50 per player

The Parfects @ 209 receiving  $ 8.50 per player

    Winning teams for the week:

Iron Eagles,The Hole Hawgs,Lunatics of the Links,Pete's Pistols & The Parfects.

Well, as I mentioned in an earlier blog for those teams closer to the bottom, say, Pete's Pistols......Team Armeggedon last year went from worst to first through the playoffs, so do not despair, anything can happen!!!!

Playoff Format:

Each week rather than head-to-head matches, the playoffs will be contested in a medal play format with teams competing against every other team each week.  The team that finishes with the lowest team total for the week will earn the most points, the team with the second lowest team total for the week will earn the second most points and on down the line.  As always, participation points will be added to the performance points earned that week. The three weeks of playoffs will be worth the following points...

Week 1      Week 2      Week 3

1st – 20        25               32

2nd – 15       20               25

3rd – 12       15               20

4th – 9         12               15

5th – 6           9               12

6th – 5           6                 9

7th – 4           5                 6

8th 3            4                 5

9th 2            3                 4

10th – 1          2                 3

NOTE:  This is a "new season"...the regular season points do not carry over!!

The members of the winning playoff team will each receive $40, while the runners up will each receive $25. There will be no weekly payouts in the playoffs.

Thanks for listening..........
