It's All Over But The Crying!!!!!!!Sep 23, 2010 | Posted by Greg ThackerThe crying towels have been issued to all but two teams.......the big winners of the year go to Captain Hank Nykamp and his "HOTSHOTS". They proved that a high participation rate, consistent play and a rather good head professional will garner you the top prize. I guess some kudos should fall to Mr. Bud McAuley for picking the winning squad....well done guys!!! Second place fell to the "Almost" Parfects.....placing first in the final week earned them the bridesmaid money.....congrats to Captian Jim Deighan and the crew!!! To my captain - Jeremy Goetz..well..third place is respectable for you first crack at captain...maybe next year. Thank-you to all the captains for 2010 for taking on the pressures and responsibilities, we hope your blood pressure will return to normal soon!! Congratulations to the final Playoff week winners: $20 credit to the following: CTP#4: Bruce Burger........one of the devoted Pinseekers!!!! CTP#8 : Bob McKendrick Low Net: Scott Mitten- 31......again!!.....out of the hat winner..honorable mention to Ron Woynarski Low Gross: Gary Keyes- 35....shot himself 9 pars!!! MUB - Tim Goad- 44....sorry Hank Nykamp..also 44...you won enough dough!!! The #14 seat on the Bubba Bus Trip Award to.....Ed Heslin(first shot of the day!!)....sorry Dale Benson...only one seat per player!!!! The Beat the Pro ends with another blank by...WAIT!!...yours truly...a 34 by Thackmandoo was good enough to blank the field for the final week, leaving us with only two winners for the year...congrats to Ken Ellacott and Kyle Deighan who will get a free Molson product drink @ the closing dinner on the 29th. Yes...the closing dinner will take place Wednesday September 29th starting @ 6:00pm. If you play on the 29th, all Men's Night participants can(if they wish) deposit a "Toonie" in the golf shop. We will draw cards for a Hidden Partner game at the end of the day. The best Net Better Ball score for the front nine will "scoop" all the toonies!!! Remember we are drawing for the BIG $1500.00 prize on the 29th...so you should be there!!!....please sign up on the easel outside the golf shop so we can let Chef Brendon Clarke know how many mouths to feed. We will also draw for the other 10 seats on the bus from the field of those who played all 10 regular season weeks. It has been a pleasure serving you for this season as your weekly blogger. On behalf of Galt Country Club, we would like to thank the members and staff for participating in Men's Night.....without you...I would have nothing to talk about!!! Well, here we are heading into the final week of the year...........the Hotshots are burning a hole in my screen as they continue to blaze through the field. They hold a 31 point lead over the Parfects thus rendering them almost unbeatable barring a cataclysmic disaster in 13 lives and our head pro coming up with an acute case of the yips and the shanks.....possibility?......NOT!!!! The race for second place, however, is a tight one as the Parfects snuck into second a mere 6 points in front of the Go Goetzers. The Dangerous Drivers lurk another 4 points behind, in fourth place and as for the rest of the field........well played...maybe next year. Oh!!!...I just noticed the Pinseekers had a score this week.......yeah!!!!
So to summarize we have this to say......the last week might get interesting if a bunch of dangerous drivers can parfect a four wheel stop goetzer in hotshot fashion then we could have a u turn of events..........

Well....the 2nd week of the playoffs is the books and as seems to be the norm (not Casarin) the Hotshots are in the lead!! However, the weekly winner was the Parfects nipping the Hotshots by a mere 4 points and leading the week in participation with 13!!! Speaking of participation, we had a first in my tenure here at Galt Country Club....the Pinseekers failed to log 6 participants thus amassing a score of zero,ziltch,nota,nyet,bubkas,squat,air,squadoosh!!!! Kudos to those Pinseekers that actually put forth the effort but to the other 9 members missing in action..................OOOOPS!!...not even a DNF?? Congratulations to Mike Pengelly who manage a rare double......closest to the pin on #4 &.....MUB!! We had 89 participants for the week bringing the season total of approx. 1200 rounds played that no one has managed to be the "Head Pro"....good luck next week.

Hi Guys,
Welcome back to Men's Night Playoffs....we are off and running again with a new format and a new four week season. The four weeks consist of the ten teams gutting it out on their two gross plus four net totals against the field. The best scores will rank each team first to tenth and points are awarded accordingly. Remember, your participation points will be added to your totals each week so captain's.....get'em OUT!!!! The points each week will escalate so teams can improve their position....first place this week as you can see was 25 thru 2...next week will be 35 thru 3, the 3rd week will be 40 thru 4 and the last week will be 45 thru 5. The hole in one fund continues to grow and is still available thru the playoffs. The specialty holes will be awarded each week and the "Bubba" is still there for the bus trip(see dates on the main page). Each week we will still have a low net, low gross and MUB but there is no weekly team winnings, the top two teams after four weeks will be awarded shop credit as we did for the regualar season. On that note...the Hotshots have continued their winning ways, jumping out to an early lead after week one......second are the Go Goetzers(Yeah....my team!!!)...after that...I really do not care...lol....see standings page!!
