May 24, 2012 | Posted by GREG THACKERTWO TIE....ALL TIE?........Good Day Y'All, Here we are in week #3 and things are starting to roll...at least on the scoring front. The weather is finally cooperating and with the warmer sunny skies came a few better efforts from the crowd. When I say crowd...I mean crowd....120 players!! took to the field this week, meaning that the participation factor is excellent and making the GCC Cup points race....tight!! We had one of those unusual occurances this week with, not one but two ties, in the team vs team. The Pitchbird Pingoons and Andy Double Moogey met this week and battled to a half, inluding low team score at 205(-5). The other tie saw the Great Balls of Fire Flames equal the Center Cut Sentators @ 212(+2).....which makes a "Flaming Senator with Great Balls"????......Congratulations to some individual efforts; Much better net scoring including a few 30's by a Dah,AbuDah & YogiDah(that's Dawe,Cullen,Cernick) but we must travel by canoe to the other end of the alphabet to someone wirthy of the Low Net this week: Mr. Sean Wirth with a fine 29!!; Low gross was delivered by Mr. Mike Pengelly playing nifty @ 34!!.....DJA cut him off at 34..so no beat the pro again this week; MUB was Martin Gedja @ 46.....could be another pair of "Gicha Gedja"...let you know!!; Closest to the Pin on #4 was Lee....Lee....leave it to me..Charpentier; Closest to the Pin on #8 was Mike Deighan...ever so close to the money!!; And drinking the "Heiney" for the week...closest to the bubbalicious.....Steve Jones!!!(pick it up in the golf shop when you are thirsty). On the standings front the Myskyded Leafs vaulted out of the basement with a victory, leaving the Senators, Flyers and Tee Birds still looking for their first win. This is the 3rd straight week that PP's Pingoons have finished in the money for team score(two seconds and a T1st)...money..money!! Those Obnoxious..Oilers are not "Olney" continuing to hold the lead.....Coach Trent is proving that his root beer methods get "A"s &"W"ins !!(I gotta get some sleep!) Low Gross: Mike Pengelly...NICE!!..took a DJ..eh...to keep him from a free beer.....34!! Low Net: Sean Wirth...AHHH!!....bow to his "Wirthiness"........29!! MUB: Martin Gedja.....46.....better times ahead...."I Betcha Gedja"...maybe...new Gicha!!! | 0 Comments May 17, 2012 | Posted by GREG THACKERWEAK....WEEK#2Good Day Y'all, A tough second week at Galt Country Club as the best team score was +4(214) by Olney's Obnoxious Oilers followed by the Pitchbird Pingoons at +8(218).......these two teams along with Habit Warning & Great Balls of Fire Flames are undefeated thru the first two weeks and lead the pack. Andy Double Moogey & Canuck Warlords move to one & one...while ...the remaining teams are 'O For' and...yes....what!!!.....the Myskyded Leafs are in last place...doodo..doodo...doodo...deja vu? Not to worry though, not only is it early in the season......you can not miss the playoffs in this format...he..he..he!! On to some other fine performances of the day.....Rob Moore managed to hold of the field again this week with an even par 35(Brent Noels....36). We had 104 players post scores this week and with Switzer missing the week that brings the field to 0 for 208 rounds. Closest to the pin on #4 was stuck in there late in the day...a "ReMaxian" effort by Mr. Ian Gray!! Closest to the Pin on #8 was retribution from last week for Captain Warlord..Mr Andy Warnock..a fine lasered iron to two feet!! Closest to the Bubba for the second week was found by the Yogiest of Yogies..Mr. Barry Cernick!! The Low Net.. a score of 32 was delivered by Mr. Mark Piccolo...his superintentions, however, garner him a...well done....course is great..by the way!!...Winnner with 33 to Ron Woynarski. The Low Gross...a fine 37 by the very shady men's captain and team captain Flyer..Mr. Tim Schade!!(he was tied by Mr. Shawn Brown and Dave Anthony and myself but through a process that's way to complicated to discuss here......well....the one who has the most "captains" in his name wins this week). Most Usless Bastard for this week...49...goes to Jeff Ford...I'm thinking that his team needs to have a meeting with their "Role Model Tee Bird".......by the way I may need your "Gich" size....explain that later!! There are still some Men's Night hats that have not been picked up in the golf shop...make sure you grab them before next week!! Good Day Y'all Welcome to the first blog for the 2012 Men's Night League!!!!!! Well, for better or worse the first week of the season is officially in the books!! Our good old Canadiana weather brought everything but....SNOW!! Regardless....113 of our 129 Leaguers managed to post and that is a good sign!! As far as the team names are concerned, I have officially heard from 7 of the 10 captains. The remaining 3: Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings & Montreal Canadians can change the names I put in the system before next Wednesday May 16th!!..... then they are written in stone. Some of the highlights for the first week included, not surprisingly, a fine 32 from our Head Professional...thus there was no "Beat the Pro" winners for week #1(A free beer ticket at the closing dinner for those who beat(NOT TIE) the low pro each week...Gross...the pros include Rob Moore, Greg Thacker, Brent Noels, Mike Switzer & Dave Anthony. Coodos to Lee Charpentier for the low gross, a solid round of 35 and Bryan Webber with the low net of 29. This year the closest to the Bubba each week receives an actual Heineken Bubba(not the one we use on the course..of course!!)....the first beer drinker goes to Mr. Bill Winser!! Those who win the "Mini Keg" each week can pick it up in the golf shop. The two lowest scoring teams this week were the Great Balls of Fire Flames with a team score of even par 210(that is 6 x 35 for those that need help) and the Pitchbird Pingoons(still have not figured this name out...lol) with a score of 1 over par 211.....nice effort boys!! Closest to the pins on #4 & #8 were garnered by a 170 yard sculled wedge? by Mr. Jeff Flinn(Canuck Warlord) and an Obnoxiuosly Oily Iron by the one and "Olney"...Shawn Brown!! Do not be afraid to browse the website for all your stats and results. The Money List is to the right of this blog and will keep a running total of all the shop credits you have garnered.
