Welcome to the Men's Night 2008 Season
Oh Captain, My CaptainSep 11, 2008 | Posted by Rob Moore Team Armageddon claimed a famous victory last night winning the playoff season for 2008. The Parfects were stunned by the rally that saw two late night scores knock them down to second place. It looked like the Parfects were home and dry at 7 p.m. when the Armageddon captain Norm Casarin sidled out of the lounge leaving his half drunk pint of Molson beer warming on the table. Two minutes later he was to be seen racing to the tenth tee with his last hope of victory, Stephen Gray in tow. There was doubt as to whether or not the light would hold long enough for the round to be completed. Fifty minutes later a score of 30 appeared for Armageddon on the (soon to be Doc Sage’s) LCD tv to dash the hopes of Doug Ridsdale and his Parfects crew. Stephen’s net 30 was preceded 5 minutes earlier by Steve Cunningham’s net 33 to give Team Armageddon their victory. They were low team for the week with 208, four ahead of the Parfects. Their playoff total of 101 points was comprised of 55 points won and 46 participation points; both totals were # 1. Not bad from a team that finished 9th in the regular season with a poor participation record. We will be asking Norm what piece of inspirational literature caused the magical turnaround. Each member of Armageddon will receive $40 in credit while The Parfects will receive $25.

Week 3 Scores
Men’s Night Closing
Next week is the closing event for the year. Play any time of the day and hand in your $2 and your 9 hole stableford score. Later the blind draw will take place to determine the winners. There will also be a draw for the TV and the participation draw. These will follow a meal, which you need to sign up for if you intend to eat. Sign up is in the men’s locker room. Coors Lite Bus Trip
The Coors Lite Bus is filling up fast with Dave Ross the final Bum to earn its way on. The remaining spots will be filled by team picks. Ideally we should get all the names sometime prior to the 24th, which is the date of the trip. For the full list of qualifiers check the sidebar. Hole in One
There was no Hole in One winner so the cash pots will be waiting until next year to be claimed. Both stand at a little over $1500 each. Remember to win you will have to sign up again next year for the league. Our weekly winners this week were as follows: Low gross – Tim Goad (again) 34 Low net - Doug Crane & Stephen Gray 30 (Split prize) M.U.B. – Rui Couto 45 Closest to the holes #14 – Rod Jones #16 – Derek McGrath Each prize is $25 to shop credit.

Team Armageddon is proving how important it is to get the guys out to play. For the first two weeks of the playoffs they have amassed a total of 55points to lead all teams. They have had perfect attendance of 32/32 to secure this position. With one week to go they hold a slim one point lead over the Foreplayers who rebounded from last week’s dismal showing to lead the field with a score of 203. Every team still has a chance to win the playoffs with a victory next week. Below are the updated standings after week two with the points still available.
