Week # 4 (June 3rd)
The week started with some very sad news about Mike O'Driscoll (Macaws) who died suddenly on Sunday, May 30th. Mike was regular at Men's Night and was one of those with perfect attendance in 2009. Our sincere condolences and thoughts go to his family. Dany thanked hose who attended the wake and noted that a tree will be planted in Mike's memory.
Participation for Week #4 was down a little (261) - possibly since those who played later in the day had to dodge the showers.
The Merlins and Herons tied for first place for Week #4 with 375 points.
Week #5 (June 10) marks the end of the first quarter and with one week to go the race for top spot is very close. Only one point separates the Macaws in first and the Vultures and Hawks tied for second.
The top point scorer for Week #4 was Jeremy Nowiski (Vultures). Jeremy is a new member and this was only his second time playing Men's Night - a great signing for the Vultures! Jeff Cockwell (Merlins) and Steve Shaver (Vultures) were tied for second with 23 points. Grant Wilson (Macaws) obtained the highest stableford points (21) with Mike Hopkins (Herons) second with 20 points.
For the fourth week in a row, the putting contest did not carry-over - the winner was David Macdonald (Herons). Trevor Johnson (Vultures) won the 50/50.
Check the side bar to see if you won an on-course prize. If you have not claimed your prize, check at the pro-shop.
Thanks to Herons for hosting Week #4 - GOOD JOB!. Thanks to all those who helped and particularly to Don Roberston (Robertson Rentals) for donating some additional raffle prizes.
A Woodpecker Challenge:
A Mexican woodpecker and a Canadian woodpecker were in Mexico arguing about which country had the toughest trees. The Mexican woodpecker claimed Mexico had a tree that no woodpecker could peck.
The Canadian woodpecker accepted his challenge and promptly pecked a hole in the tree with no problem. The Mexican woodpecker was amazed.
The Canadian woodpecker then challenged the Mexican woodpecker to peck a tree in Canada that was absolutely "impeckable" (a term frequently used by woodpeckers ). The Mexican woodpecker expressed confidence that he could do it and accepted the challenge.
The two of them flew to Canada where the Mexican woodpecker successfully pecked the so-called "impeckable" tree almost without breaking a sweat.
Both woodpeckers were now terribly confused. How is it that the Canadian woodpecker was able to peck the Mexican tree, and the Mexican woodpecker was able to peck the Canadian tree, yet neither was able to peck the tree in their own country?
After much woodpecker pondering, they both came to the same conclusion: Apparently,Tiger Woods was right, when he said, "your pecker gets harder when you're away from home."
The Hawks are the hosts of Week #5 and it looks like the another Men's Night trying to avoid the rain or showers!
