Welcome to the Men's 2010 Season
What is a DNF?May 27, 2010 | Posted by John KawiukPrior to getting into the good stuff I’d like to explain a new feature that was introduced. I know it happens only occasionally but once in a while you'll have someone who came out to play and couldn't finish. He was in the middle of his round just as the horn sounded to signal dangerous weather. By the time it was safe to go back out his allotted time had passed leaving him no choice but to head for home. He was disappointed that he wasn’t able to help his team by at least earning a participation point. We have nothing but the utmost respect for those players who understand the importance of participation and, as such, we’ve introduced a DNF item. Be it known that any Men’s Night participant who is unable to complete his round due to unforeseen and extraordinary circumstances is welcome to enter DNF on their scoresheet. The Pro Shop will credit the participant as having played so they will earn a participation point but, since no number was entered; neither their team’s score nor their handicap will be affected. IMPORTANT: Be it known that I reserve the right to disallow a DNF if it becomes too regular an occurrence or if everyone in the lounge knows damn well a specific "participant", is obviously packing it in to avoid a visit to the Useless Bastard list. We also have had a few who simply do not know the rules of golf and due to that lack of knowledge ends up with a DQ and thus no score. They did play the full nine holes but simply could not enter a score due to their violation. They made the effort so let them have a participation point. So it shall be written. So it shall be done. Now for the good stuff. With Pin High winning the week over the Gunners and the Barstool Prophets winning over STR8 Par this week we now have “game on” with two teams with a 5 and 1 record and only 3 points apart. STR8 Par and Pin High are neck and neck and battling for top spot. A Few Good Men proved that to be true with an overall win for the week and leaving Pin High as the bridesmaid for the week. A close third was the Gunners who were just out of the money by a single point. Did you know that some of the players on that team were on the same team last year and are the only players in two years not to cash a cheque?????? How bad is that??? However when you end up with a nine one week and a six the next week on the par 3 number nine why would you think one would cash in???. There is always hope as next week we’ll be on the old and there will not be any water in front of the ninth green. Defending Champions Swagger finally had a win. Is this now a trend or will they Stagger next week???? I hear there is action on that with odds on the Stagger. Low gross for the week was Jim Kenesky winning the tie from last week and a cool $50.00. 50/50 winner for the week is Paul Leblanc who pockets $88.50. Congrats to all who participated for the week as everyone is a winner. Until next week. Comments are welcome click on the “add a comment” below. John Kawiuk |
