Welcome to the Men's Night 2010 Season

Regular Season Ends

Sep 9, 2010 | Posted by TT

On a day when the conditions were easily the most challenging of the year we still had 78 players show up for the final day of the regular season.  Only 12 of the 78 players managed a score net under par.  Wallace Kenny was low man on the day carding a very solid net 33.  A host of other players netted 34's Mark Paterson, Mark "Milf" Hunter, Tip Top and Billy Leavoy were all on top of their game.  Mark Paterson led the gross side with a very solid 36 played earlier in the day.  Leo "Grinder" Foy and Jim "Hand Picked" Dow both carded 37's.  Showing signs that his game is coming back, Phil K posted a WMC best T7 on the gross side.  I heard he hit a knock down 4 iron into 1 the wind was so strong.  ERRR the trees got in the way

Enough with the individual kudo's this is a team game.

Game one... Bansaw v Razor.

The short handed Razor's Edge had only 8 players post and in the end it cost them a one point loss to Bansaw.  Where was Scott I mean "Turtle" Sinclair.  They needed ya big boy.... The invite was there to join Cord and I.... Razor's team was left "ticketless" in the bar afterward making the loss that much harder to swallow.  The win moved Bansaw into 4th place and dropped Razor to 5th.

Game two Bravehearts v Top Dog

With second place on the line for Top Dog... and F**k all on the line for Bravehearts the Heartless Bastards come up huge and crushed the Puppies.  The Humane Soceity should have been called in they beat the mutts so bad.  Patterson and George set the table with 36 and 38 gross and Gerry "what the f**k am I doing out here" Reagan carded a 35 net.  D'Arcy ,his ears still ringing from the frying pan, was a solid 37 net.  Andy McInnis (Why are you not back at school) also netted 37.  Well played Bravehearts.  Top Dog you picked the wrong week to shit the bed.  You guys you had 13 players to their 8.  Collar a little to tight.

Game three It Burns v Deuces Wild

With no Biagio DiCarlo (he was picking up Brad Pitt at the Airport) no Dr Dave Mac, no Patty Yasher things were looking a tad bleak before IBWWT took to the course.  The result was nothing short of shocking 261-291 in favor of It Burns.  Hats off to the IBWWT team that posted a season best 10-3-1 mark.  By the way Robert Kolanko you rock man.  You played every week rain or shine!  Yesterday you were our best net guy yet again.  Well played Mauer!!  Hey Cord retire that putter.  Yikes

Jerry Needs A.... are the hottest team in the league and are the team to beat next week.  They posted a -2 score even with E-Paik shooting a 39.  The Leafs were no match for Jerry even though they were the second best team yesterday.  Christ the top three on Jerry's Useless Bastards sheet  would have counted on every other teams net list.

Good times in the bar last night.  While I was schooling Rip Cord on the Art of Backgammon C-Man and his tribe of Merry Men were posing for pictures for the Etobicoke Guardian.  Jerry needs a .... looked like he stuck his finger in a light socket.  Nice lid J.  Tickets were flying, beer was being funnelled down like it had an expiry date.  Good times!!

Special shout out to Jason O'Halloran for sponsoring the week.  Bobo Two Ball is walking in a new pair of shoes thanks to JO.

TT, Great summary. Thanks for taking the lead on weekly communication/blog on what has been a supper WMC season. Yasher and Shields need a thank you round from one of those drink tickets that were flying around Wednesday. Ouch! Any more nights like that and we will have F

Week 13

Sep 1, 2010 | Posted by TT

What a difference a week makes!  One week after posting and embarrassing score of 269 It Burns bounces back with a solid winning week score of 245.  The destruction of Top Dog allowed Jerry needs a Pacemaker to slide into a second place tie with the Mutts thanks to their very narrow 2 point win over Bansaw.  In other action Deuces, less their captain AP, squeaked by the Leafs 258-259 and Rudderless Razors Edge, less their honeymooning captain Rick Sturino got tied late by the "Not So Bravehearts".

So with one week left in the regular season the aforementioned It Burns has the year sewn up.  The 11 point lead allows them to take the year even with a loss next week provided 10 of their guys post a score.  The battle for second place between rivals Jerry and the Pacemakers and Top Dog should be interesting.

Individually the Rock posted a solid score of 34.  I had the pleasure of hot boxing with the Rock while sharing an umbrella last week on the second hole.  Nice round Rock.  Evelyn proved yet again that she is the best player on the Pro side as she chicked the squad with a solid 34.  E was rocking the pink pants today and it really f**ked up Garry Frederickson.  His net 46 was the leader of the totally useless bastards sheet.  You do good pants E.  Travis "Mother" Tucker killed it on the front with a 35.... Hey Trav where was Mark and Andrew this week.  Great round by the Chris Tortorice (posted very late) and Leo "The grinder Foy along with Sandy Mac they both shot even par.

Robert Kolanko led the net side with a smoking 32.  Robert took a 9 on the second hole but he bounced back with par on 4 birdie on 5, par on 6 and par on 9 to shoot 46 gross.  Hey Robert I played with a guy today and he started 3-5 on the first two holes and he shot 46.  Great going thanks for not pulling the chute.  William Leavoy 33, Russ Coey 33, Russ Blacklock 33, and Doug Bannan 33 were also blazing on the net side.

A huge shout out to Doug Bannan and Ridley Windows for sponsoring the week.  Mike Bart won closest to the pin and he won 10% off his next order of over 100,000 or a free tinting of his patio door.  Nice going Mike.  He also won a new putter. (Which he badly needs).  Thanks Bansaw!!

If you see Patrick yasher over the weekend say thanks for doing a solid job running WMC.  He put up with a lot of shit from some of you including me.  I may not have liked all your decisions but I do like you kid.  Great Job Rubber Duckie.  YOU MADE THE WMC what it was.  Thanks!

In summary 80 guys showed up this week on a hot steamy day.  Mike Moro was the only DNF.  With cocktails in hand he tried to finish eight and nine in the dark but alas it didn't happen.  Great week everyone.  Sorry for blasting It Burns in my last blog...  Two more weeks to go.  It should be fun.  Hopefully some of the mid day players come back and party on the 15th.

Quick on the Blog TT. Nice. And great job on #1 for 2010 - now can you please stop the whinning - but your guy Kolenko is your real hero. Speaking of hero's, E @ Pacemakers deserves way more Recognition Doug. She plays (pretty well) every week, is leading the Pros by a ton, has counted on gross side for JATP since like, WMC started, and oh yeh, today she eagles #2 to nail down The V against The Sponsor. (Thanks Father/Son Bannon). Need I remind all of us Joysticks that E plays from OUR TEES. She plays from her Tees, and well, my guess is that IBWWP comes in 2nd this week. I'm tempted to put her forward on 09/15, Nahhhhhhhhhh.........

Week 11

Aug 17, 2010 | Posted by TT

You would think that the first place team IBWWT would be excited to get out there and take down Razor's Edge in week 11 but that was not the case.  Only 8 members of the squad managed to spare 2 hours out of their very busy summer and the result was as expected.  They got blasted 248-258.  Way to go guys, thanks for coming out.  This was a very winnable week but instead it ended up being an embarassment.  Thanks to the usual suspects that show up regardless of having to work an all nighter in the Emerg ward.  Thanks to Billy Leavoy for posting in the dark to at least make the match repectable.  Time for changes.  if Jerry can cut players so can we....

That felt great.  Nothing like ripping your squad in the papers.  WTF we needed it.

Dueces got back on track narrowly beating the Not-so-Bravehearts.  It's great to win but even better when you collectively play like crap.  Sorry not everyone was crap JT limped around in 36 gross and Glennith rolled a 37.  Franky D was 33 net as was Heff.  Man did the rest of the scores blow.

Bansaw improved to 6-5 with a solid win over "Tip Top" Tebbutt's Leafs.  Bansaw was low for the week.  Well done lads.  The complaining should subside for a while or at least until we play them again.  Lumpy Wong worked up an appetite out there shooting his 40 gross.  Post round he smoked a steak, baked potatoe, salad and a pound of wings.  I have pictures!!!  Easy big fella.

Finally, it looks as though Top Dog is peaking at the right time.  Either that or the team is in heat.  Jerry needs a... went down yet again proving the power of the TY.  Two weeks earlier Jerry was boasting about how he was going to "take us down"  Ah yes the Oracle has struck yet again.

Here are the standings after 11 weeks

Week 10

Aug 6, 2010 | Posted by TT

The Blogs for week 8-9 just went poof as I made a F**king key stroke error.  Don’t cry Jerry I’ll give you props for beating us in week 8. But I will rip your guy that picked a large diet coke and a bag of Buttered popcorn over finishing his round in Week 9.  This guy was1 over par after 7 holes a score that would have easily given you a win in week 9.

Let’s talk however about more recent news like what the hell happened yesterday.

Match One had Top Dog playing Razor’s Edge.  Neither team played up to their potential. When the smoke cleared Top Dog and their +2 score was enough to grab the 10 points.  Top Dog goes to 6-4 with this important victory over 5-4-1 Razors Edge.  Somebody promised a doggy biscuit to Bob Leavens because he lit it up shooting a smooth 36.  The same could be said for Claude Burul because he rolled over and begged and carded a 31 net.  These two great scores helped overcome the net 39 they had to count from Erin “way to easy so I won’t” Keyes.  Nice job Dawgs!! Scotty Sinc’s DNF hurt Team Razor big time.  His usual 36 would have allowed Rock to move to the net side at 34 instead of 37 gross.  Rick’s 40 net would have slid to the UB section and thus a 7 stroke turn around.  In Scott’s defence he was playing a singles match so WMC may not have been on his mind.  FYI you can only play one 9, you can’t play early in the day and declare it “not my WMC nine” and then play later in the day.

Match 2 saw the Deuces three match winning streak come to an end.  Bansaw sharpened their game to nip Deuces by one swing.  Okay let’s call a spade a spade neither of you deserved the W.  Both teams played like CRAP.  Even new recruit JT couldn’t help the deuces as nobody managed to break 40 gross.  Bansaw, you backed into this W.  This is called playing the right team at the right time.  Hell Bravehearts almost beat you.

Match 3 saw the short handed It Burns team improve to 8-2 thanks to the last minute heroics of Big Mac.  As I was leaving the club, demoralized after it looked like we were going to tie the Maple Leafs there was Dave Mac playing his second shot into 9 with Scott Sinc.  It was 8:40 and Dave had ten minutes to get to hockey and he had played a member guest earlier in the day. (2 good reasons not to show up but he did anyway)  His putt for 34 just missed but his 35 helped give It Burns a 6 point win over “Tip Top Tebbutt’s” Leafs.  Well played Mauer.  Yasher’s 37 gross allowed Fitzy to slide to the net side (32), Biagio (on fire lately) carded a 40 for a net 33, Tortorice 37 net Leavoy 38 net and Adrian “CC” Cord 38 net got the job done.  Sweet win IBWWT... Now if the rest of the team would make the effort to show up....

JATP won the week yet again at 247.... Nice job Jerry.  Colin what can I say.... Oh by the way Colin there is a new rule. (Remember we make the rules as we go along)  It seems that if one of your guys can’t play much the rest of the way you can cut them and hand pick anyone you like.  That’s what Jerry did with Brad Aitken.  Brad got cut after playing only 5 times and was replaced by Jim Dow.  Okay NP, Paul Bicknell has played 1 WMC since we picked him up.  Paul you can take the rest of the year off, Mike Spina you now play for IT BURNS.  Does anyone else thing this is a bullshit deal.  If it stands Spina plays on IT Burns and the rest of you Captains better look at your roster...

We had some spectacular performances yesterday. Claude “The Surgeon” Burul came to the party with bells on. Claude posted a net 31, sparked by a deuce (2) on the first hole. How exciting is that! Co-captain Bob “Skinny” Leavens was hotter than the weather last evening, knocking down the pins

Too Tall, what can I say about my Week 9 Walkoffs in the Rain. Except Wally as the Beaver said the movie was very good and the airconditioning felt great. As for Week 8, pure and simple you blew your load early and ran out of bullets. Time to tweek your pre-game motivation speech and lassoo more of your guys as there are a number of Teams one win away from catching IBWWT. By the way, its not BS or a made up rule, it was a wise decision by the entire management in the Commssionors Office. When Brad resigned and gave me the How Do You Do What You Do To Me speech due to travel, party, and GS plans, I simply went to League Administrator Yasher and Commssionor Shields, explained whats up and applied to add a replacement, with the 100% proviso that if they said no, I had no problem playing a man down, as Medal had been awol for half the season anyways. I got the late night OK/Application Approved from Patrick, Jim was in, Brad out. So if your guy quits (read as, Not Get Fired) then get off the Needles and Pins and make the same application to the Commissionor. We could all go through our rosters and pick players that give us a reason to Waiver them direct Ciniplex Odeon, but there is no Waiver Rule, so it is a case by case thing and my classy guy honored up (read as Medal) and the League approvded the deal. 4 more Wedesdays then the Final. Its all about participation so lets get all our guys out and Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying with anything less than a full roster of the 16 players we all have on our Teams. Because if you have 8 and they have 16, you will be taking the Jersey Acrooss The Mercy. The Pacemaker.
