Welcome to the Men's Night 2010 Season

Week 7

Jul 8, 2010 | Posted by TT

It was hotter than "3 in a bed" and still 87 players showed up for week 7 of WMC sponsored by Bob Tebbutt.  Thanks for stepping up Bob.  I heard Russ Coey was going to sponsor a week but he couldn't decide on whether to donate a Jolly Jumper to put the losing Captain in or a baby stroller to wheel out the drunkest WMC participant. Ummm I think the stroller

The e-mails were flying this morning as useless bastard Doug Bansaw was giddy over his teams shit kicking of Bravehearts.  Yes Doug it was a great win but remember you were playing the the "Heartless Ones".  It wasn't, as you mentioned in your email the best score of the year.  That distinction still belongs to "Jerry needs a pacemaker" at -13.

Enough with the BS lets get down to business.  I can't decide what to lead with this week.  Should I talk about "It Burns huge come from behind 1 point win over the rudderless Razors Edge or should I talk about AP and the Deuces first win of the year?  AP you get the nod.

Even though I was hoping Deuces would have a "Detroit Lions" year it was only a matter of time before they finally got their shit together and pulled down that elusive first W.  The victim was of course had to be the Maple Leafs led Mr Bob Tebbutt.  Deuces posted a +2 day thanks mostly to the net side of the board.  Travis (great band check them out) Tucker (and not Travis Tritt you dim wits just TRAVIS) did his part firing a 37 and the next low gross was AB and his 41.  The net side counters were Jason "Jack" O'Halloran 34, Bob Molgat 34, Bruce "Not Nick" Kenney 36, Jon Cheevers 36 and captain AP himself 36.  I heard Bruce Kenney holed a putt on 9 that was from the "Pumpkin pin" area to the front pin location.  The ball was going so fast that if it missed the hole my sources said his next shot would have been a solid 9 iron.  Nice birdie Bruce. The Leafs had no answer for the Deuces.  They counted 39 and 40 gross scores from Andrew and Leon and a 35 from Russ Coey. FB manager Greg was F..ing B in his WMC night debut.  No worries Greg you can only go up.  Show us a little love on the specials and we can arrange for more strokes.

It burns... used a late posting of 36 by new recruit Dave MacKinnon to erase a 5 stroke deficit and nip "Rudderless" Razor's Edge by one point.  Captain Rick notified his squad that he would be missing this week due to a conflict and they couldn't step up and steal the win.  Biag and I were both shocked by him missing this crucial grudge match.  Both teams were missing their top gross players due to the Ontario AM in Sudbury.  Dave Mac stepped up though and ripped a 36 and Chris Tortorice rolled a 37 for It burns....  Dave's 36 moved Dean Dart to the net side allowing us to count Dave's 36 instead of Dean's 38 gross.  Dean counted a 34 net instead of my useless 38 net, thus a 6 stroke swing.   I know for you mathletes this might be confusing but try and follow along anyway.. It Burns 6-1 has sewn up the first half title no matter what happens next week.  Someone tell Grant Dow "Jones" he was a number one draft pick.  Hey Rick every GM makes a bad first pick...Hoffa anyone.   PK was low man on Razors Edge with net 35.

Jerry Needs a Pacemaker came crashing down to earth and got Schooled by Top Dog.  The Mutts were led by Garry Fredrickson's smoking 31 net and consistent scoring from the rest of the squad.  Ian Mathers as the beaver was at it again shooting 37 gross to lead the Dawgs.  Sam Frost strolled over from his perch on 10 and posted a solid 35.  Seamus did the same earlier in the day.  All Night John Wright had just enough juice in his flask to record an even par 36 throw in Burgess 37 net and Leavens 39 gross and you get a -2 day.  Very Nice W.

As previously mentioned Bansaw did a little open heart surgery on C-Man's Squad.  You know things are going badly when for a while Colin was on the gross side with his 44.  Thank's to Mark Paterson's 39 Colin was able to post a 37 net instead.  Only 9 players for Braveheart.  Not going to get it done C.   Bansaw was low team for the week thanks to Bob Richardson's 34 gross.  Nice.  Sandy McIntyre 37 gross was the only player to post an over par number.  Mark Cheevers 34, Doug Williams 35, Lumpy Wong 35, Art "the greens are fine" Thomas 35 and Bobo "two ball" Guthrie 36 led the way.

The Standings after 7 weeks of WMC look like this

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Jerry The Pacemaker | Jul 9, 2010 08:20 PM

Crashing down to earth? TT It was a pile on! The Pacemaker trys to play with the Captain of our opposition each week (You told me your 3-sum was full Week 1). I played with Top Dawg John Burgess, his Vice Bitch Leavens, and Garry "I'm not a slow player, it just my pockets are full of sand" Fredrickson. It was over when they go 2 pars and a birdie on #1, while I make double. I got beat up worse than Bobby in Raging Bull. I felt like Brice Willis in Pulp Fiction when the Freak came up from his hole. I got so ripped to shreds I was the crippled guy who gets shredded by the wild boars in that cannibal movie, not starring our own Hannibal. I think you get the picture. Get it? The picture!! Nice job John and congrats to the rest of your mutts!! Looking foward to our rematch in the second half.

Week 6

Jul 2, 2010 | Posted by TT

Going into week 6 all rosters expanded by one player due to the third supplemental draft of the year.  We now have 120 players divided among 8 teams.  Men's night must be catching on because even Trevor Henderson and Seamus O'Kane have signed up to play.  Trevor was the first player taken in the draft held this week.  He was selected by Captain Rick Sturino to play with Razors Edge (4-2).  Trevor ripped a 39 that looked good for a while until Captain Rick posted his usual 37 gross even after a 6-4 finish on 8 and 9.  Rick looked at more birdie's on Wednesday than Robin did all of June.  The Second player taken was Dave MacKinnon.  Dave is another "911" guy with tons of talent, he blasted a 35 on Wednesday helping "It Burns to yet another win...  Welcome to all the new players..

Week 6 saw "It Burns when we tee" go to 5-1 with yet another dominating effort.  Bansaw (3-3) was no match for the very talented "It Burns" team.   It Burns was led by Rip and his 35 and aforementioned Dave MacKinnon 35 on the gross side.  Darren McNabb 34, TT 35, and Robert Kolanko, Paul Kinkley and William Leavoy didn't light it up but all played and posted and that's what counts.  It's great to win even when you don't have your best stuff.  Leader of Bansaw Doug Bannon was wandering around the Men's bar late Wednesday Night mumbling something about a team meeting and feeding his team 6 beers each before their next match.

Razors Edge went to 4-2 with a ridiculously easy win over Deuces Wild 0-6.  It's not even fun piling on Dueces anymore.  Sinc and Sturino went 36-37 to count on the gross side and Rock, Baker, Moro, D Alessandro and PK all hit the board.  Grant Dow made an appearence to the surprise of Captain Rick.  14 of 15 players showed up for Razor.  Dueces on the other hand only had 8 of 15 play.  Rally the troops AP, either that or you need to put some players on waivers.

Top Dog and Bravehearts had the closest match of the week.   The Dogs 3-3 came out on top mainly because they had 14-15 players show.  Ian Mathers as the Beaver can play!  He posted yet another wicked score of 36.  Bob Leavens had a hot round firing a 38.  New recruit Seamus led the net side posting 34.  "All Night" John Wright, Pat Reilly, Captain Carrick and Dave "stick" Simandl all hit the board.  Captain Burgess not so much.... whoa!   Bravehearts had only 10 of 15 post and it definately cost them.  DCF was DNF as was Michael Bateman.  It was the Gross scores that hurt the Heartless ones this week... George and Paterson were +9.

"Jerry needs a Pacemaker" is on fire and the Leafs were no match.  The Pacemakers were the top team again this week going -3.  Evelyn chciked the boys shooting 36 and Paul Martin fired a 37 gross.  McGowan, Vaccari, Nick "Mint" De julio, Hanibal and Milf Hunter counted.  No Jerry!

100 yard Shoot Out Next week.  Don't miss this gong show.

Week 5

Jun 23, 2010 | Posted by TT

The Weather was epic and not even an earthquake could keep 87 guys from todays men's night.  As I write this blog Jerry is still prancing around the Men's lounge .. Can I call it the men's lounge?  What the f**k why not.. anyway Jerry is still basking in his teams kick ass whipping of the Not so Bravehearts.  Jerrys teams season best -13 easily bested the Bravehearts +3.  Jerry had C-man in the penalty box for 4 hours on the course and 2 hours in the lounge.  No wonder you guys lost.  The Bravehearts were all sporting very fancy team hats... Really?  Jerry's teams was so dominent on the net side their useless bastards were 35, 35, 35, 36, 36 net.   Evelyn Chciked the boys yet again with 35 Gross and Marty "911" Simons was on fire with his 32.  Great win

Top Dog Bounced Bansaw 249-250 with a very late score of 30 net by Dave Simandl.  Bob Leavens 38 led the goss side.  Captain Carrick even managed to hit the board with a 37 net played in a mere 2.5 hours.  John Quinns amazing 34 gross on the front side wasn't enough to prevent the one point loss.

It Burns kicked the daylights out of AP's Deuces squad.  Rip Cord led the gross side with 35 and "The Phil Kavanaugh Project" pupil TT (yours truly) led the net side with a 31.  This just goes to show you this game is for suckers...One week after posting a totally embarassing 44 net to lead the most useless bastard list you can come back with a score like this.  Need a tune up see PK but not till he's done with me.

The upset of the week was the Leafs beating Razors edge.  Leo Foy led the leafs with 35 gross.  The rest of the team was super steady.  Razor's team was led by Sinc's 34.

The Standings after week 5 are

Position Team Win Loss Tie Part/Week Part/Year Total
1 It Burns When We Tee 4 1 0 10 44 84
T2 Razors Edge 3 2 0 10 44 74
T2 Top Dog 3 2 0 10 44 74
T2 Jerry and the Pacemakers 3 2 0 10 44 74
T2 Maple Leafs 3 2 0 10 44 74
6 Bansaw 2 3 0 10 43 63
7 Bravehearts 2 3 0 9 41 61
8 Deuces Wild 0 5 0 8 41 41

Thank god for participation points Dueces

Remember when Mel Gibson was getting stretched out at the end of the movie in which he wore funny blue paint on his face all the time and ran around in Pride Day leathers, well thats how Colin Grant felt as he played his nine with the Pacemaker knowing that his competition already had net 34's on their Useless List. C get some blue paint, it was fun playing with you. TT we have you in our sites.

Let's try that again. What up with Jerry

Mel Gibson? Blue Paint? Pride Leathers? Jerry what have you been rolling in the store this morning?

Posted by: TT | Jun 24, 2010 10:25 AM

Check out the Super Leagues Tab at the top. The "I" is currently in 5th place over all. They count the top 25 net scores from each club each week and the winning club gets 35 points. Yesterday we came second for the day at -87

Mr. TT: Nice job on the blog and thanks for mentioning the Super League. T5 is a pretty good showing but I sincerely doubt you boys at the "I" have the testicular fortitude required to make a serious run at the boys from Brantford - no pun intended. You are beating most of the Women's Leagues however which is certainly something to be proud of. Play well.

Posted by: TT | Jun 24, 2010 07:28 PM

Nice Smack talk from Brantford.. You guys do know that you are only allowed to use half your handicap right?? Sounds like a challenge that we are most surely up for. Only wish there was a bigger gap between first place points and second, third etc. Hard to make up ground when you only make up 1 point per spot in the standings. Let's see how the balance of the year unfolds. Why not a best ten gross best ten net challenge one of these weeks...

Week 4

Jun 23, 2010 | Posted by TT

Ya I know I'm a week late writing about week 4 but better late the never.  Razors Edge dominated the week posting 254 to win low team for the week.  They performed open heart surgery on Bravehearts beating them like a "red headed" step child.  Sinclair limped home with a 37 a score that was equalled by Lorenzo D'Alessandro.  Mike Moro 33, Rock 35, Randy "Touchdown Maker" Baker 37, Herb "Smoke some" Kemp and Captain Razor all counted on the net side.  Bravehearts were led by Mark Paterson and Cal George on the gross side and Robbie "I'm a" Wildman, DK, DCF, CMAN and Tony Decaria on the net side.  Nice W by Razors Edge.

After getting spanked the week before by "It Burns" the Leafs got their shit together and edged Bansaw 257-261.  Foy and Downtown counted on the gross side but the real story was the net side were Joe Maz, Bob Tebbutt's Tee's, Deric Moilliet, Greg McLachlan, Soft spoken Joel Smith managed to be even par as a group. Bansaw took it on the chin even though Tiger Woo and Tony Cosentino were a combined 1 over gross.  The net counters included Mark Cheevers, Mike Bart, The Quarter back Doug Williams, Bob "Two Ball" Guthrie and Denis Caponi.

Jerry and the Pacemakers continue to surprise me and the rest of the field as they destroyed Dunces Wild 264-275.  It's sad when you can shoot +12 and still come out on top.  Whats even sadder is Jerry's kids counted a 40-42 Gross.  Yikes.  Hanibal led the net side shooting 35 and the rest of the team played par or slightly over.  Any other week you would have been smashed in the face with those scores.  However you were playing the Dunces sooooo.  No scores under par for the Dunces.... I'm speechless.  Time for two a days.

Finally "It burns...." took Top Dog out for a walk and the result was It Burns 258 Top Dog 265.  Rip and the Tortroice played level par and Watt, Yasher, Blacklock, Kinkley and Leavoy counted +6... I was of course a very useless piece of crap but never the less the Dogs were no match.

Congrats to all the low gross players

T2 Scott Sinclair 37
T2 Chris Tortorice 37
T2 Anthony Wong 37
