WMC week 1

Thank you for checking in to read this weeks blog. I just got home from the club and it is 11:40 long after Steve Marano posted his 35 net to lead IBWWT to an opening victory over Jerry and his Pacemakers. I want to give you a complete effort so check in tomorrow and you will get all the details on a terrific week one. Congrats to Top Dog for getting 25 guys out in week one. Check in tomorrow for all the details.

Better late than never, here is my perspective on the first WMC of 2012.  William Leavoy Jr is the first person I want to give a shoot out to for donating the 150 or so steaks.  That $6.95 price wasn’t because Joseph bumped his head it was because of the generosity of Mr Leavoy.  Even with the $6.95 price one of our members was heard grumbling that the meal should have been free.  Seriously? Okay maybe if Rob Piccone donated the lettuce someone else the Potatoes and all the staff their time.  Amazing!

Great job by Patrick and all the folks in the Pro Shop for getting all the players in the computer, figuring out their handicaps, dividing the teams and taking care of all the other minutia it takes to allow us to stroll to the tee, peg the ball and slice it out on five.  You do a great job guys thanks so much.

Oh, one more thank you goes to Scott Sinclair for “Tweeting” to @ianMcQueen_IGC that he should change the top shelf side hill pin on the first hole.  Scott was out very early on Wednesday posting a very smooth 33.  His card had a Seven, a Five, a four, a two, and five threes.  The first person that can arrange his card in order gets a free beer.

For those of you that have played in men’s night before you know never to light a Victory Cigar until the last score is posted.  Week one winners were Balls Deep over Ace Holes 403-407, Top Dog (Low Team of the week) over Bansaw 388-397, C-Men over Slashers 406-412 and It Burns When We Tee nipping Jerry and The Pacemakers 394-397.  The score is determined by counting 1 gross score and 10 net scores from each team.  Each team has 25 players.  The more players you have out the better chance the team has of winning.  The low team last week, Top Dog, had all 25 guys show up.  The highest score tied for the fewest players.

Closest to the pin winners yesterday were Rob Kolanko on #4 and Frank Fabian on #6.  Frank ripped his shot at 7:45 am when most of us were trying to get a little morning love

Couttie, Hughes (not in WMC), “Tip Top” Tebbutt and Ed Postrozny decided to play a match during WMC.  Very bad form!

Giorgio Tumino backed up a nice double par 10 on #5 with a sweet 2 on #6.  That’s what I call a bounce back birdie.

First overall pick Blaine Frederickson made an eagle on #5.

The spirit of men’s night is in the competition and the camaraderie in the lounge and on the patio.  My Vice Captain Razor made a late appearance at 9:45 to take a victory lap and enjoy a quick “Jar” My “Sleeper pick” PK was low pro with a 36.

One last thing... The grin on John Burgess’ face was so wide it was as if he had eliminated the sellers list.  He was tied for low net for the week with Russ “Who needs seats” Both these guys carded net 31’s   See you all next week.
