Welcome to the Men's Day 2010 Season

Damnit...

Jul 30, 2010 | Posted by BP

I HATE CHICKEN.

Stupid thunder chickens won again.

SO CLOSE.  The Stiff Shafts - the whipping boys of the league this year needed one more player!  ONE MORE PLAYER! and they would've brought home $25 each!

If not for an error in scoring, High on MOI could've also had a victory, but sometimes it's hard to tell the Dutch Twins apart.  Once the Meulensteen scores were flipped back, that sealed their fate.

The new rule gave 5 different teams a chance to beat the poultry pounders last night, but by some stroke of luck they managed to squawk another victory.  Another rare break for Dr. MacKenzie...  Captain Berfelz will be the first team member to be fired.  Oh wait, I guess he'd be the second...lol..

How about MacDougald!!  36!!! And he even counted them all!!!  It's about time he pulled his head out of his ass and put a good score up.  Fear not folks, it went right back in on the back nine.  It's a pitty he had to share low gross with Peter Nichol, and Cliff Hodder, because he almost could've paid off his losses from the side game!

Luke Simpson can count beans, but not strokes obviously.  30!?  Another one that almost made the famous Men's Night Wall of Shame.  Must be the new work location - being close to all those avid golf fanatics at Ward & Uptigrove!  Do you have to be a sandbagger to apply?  We seem to see the W&U guys at the top of the Sandbagger list each week!

Speaking of W&U, another employee of theirs has helped themselves to some weekend beer money - Curtis McLaughlin.  Meeko is the lucky winner of $95 of 50/50 money.  He of course will be buying the guy that drew his name a beer next Thursday - won't he?  Which reminds me - Two years of 50/50 draws, and not a single winner has purchased a beverage for me!!??

Hope you stayed for steak.  It was delicious.  Or maybe you had to rush home and have some boiled tofu while you braided your wife's hair!

Have a good weekend ladies.  Remember - playoffs start soon!

Too much suspense..

Jul 27, 2010 | Posted by BP

Sorry boys... bit of a crazy week.  We let the suspense build for the weekly blog...

The Forenicators brought home the big win last week.  It was like 1988 again, Original 9 only.  97 players on a 9 hole course is impressive.  Captain Dietz was proud of the team's win saying, "We've been training long a hard all year, and finally came out on top."  As benefactors of the new rule that caps participation points at 11, their score led them to the promised land.

We also had the rare - Sandbagger and Low Score champ - Bruce Brockelbank.  34 Gross - 30 Net!  Impressive!

David Campbell was the co-sandbagger - Net 30.

I'm still amazed we haven't had more Net 20's... looks like the Men's Night Handicaps are working well!

A gentle reminder - just because you play men's night and have a "Men's Night Handicap," that does not mean your scores automatically go into Tee-On for your club handicap.  If you need a password, or your ID please contact the pro shop and we'll help you out.  It is your responsibility as a member to keep a valid handicap.

This week is STEAK NIGHT!!!!  Same story - skip the re-runs of Grey's Anatomy with your wife and stay for some testerone filled cow!  There may or may not be live music and strippers!

Also, we're getting to that time of the year when we turn on the playoffs!  Playoffs begin August 12.  The field will be split in half - A side consisting of the top 5 teams and the B side consisting of the bottom five.  These next two weeks will be your last chance to make up some ground, so participation is important.

Brent King is this week's 50/50 winner - congrats!

See you Thursday!

Snap Hooking Good Time...

Jul 9, 2010 | Posted by BP

Well, that was an interesting evening of weather...

Mother nature delayed things a bit, but those who stuck around managed to get their nine in.  Still a great turnout for what could of been a washout.  94 players on a day like that is a success any way you slice it.

Even better was the pork.  Anyone who didn't stay for the pork chop dinner missed out on probably the best meal served for a mens night.  A bunch of guys must of had promises, because quite a few ran home.  I sure hope the girls won their slo-pitch game!?  Speaking of running home...  Jeff MacFraidoflighting sure disappeared in hurry!??  What's with that?

Captain Sapporo of the Eagle Maniacs had a beer on the line for his team if they managed a victory, and for a short time, they appeared to have won their first week.... but then the scores were updated... and they lost.  Valiant effort boys.. valiant effort!  Still won your team vs team match, so at least your points grew, if not your wallets.

Captain Parsons of the Hack and Splashers had another poor round, capped off by hitting his second shot out of the pond on #8 Millennium during a lightning storm.  No one accused him of being the best decision maker.  The Splashers came up short on the participation department anyway... so his poor play didn't much matter.

Captain Campbell and Captain Math Teacher were no where to be found!?  If I were their teams, I'd send them a nasty letter!

Chief Thunder Quacker Brent Berfelz can hardly show his face anymore after his team has been plucked from the sky.  Finally the only Thunder we hear was above us, not on the score board.  There's something in the air, and it smells like revenge... or Jeff's shoes...

The Head of Fornication, Captain Dietz, has got the game figured out this year.  Yet another 35.  Nice playing!  Tied for the low gross with 35 is Rod Sachs....again....  You know what they say, if the same guys keep winning... PLAY BETTER!

After an early lead and what looked like at one point to be the only team score posted Captain MacFraidoflightning's team ran out of steam, only getting nine players, and a lack-lustre score.

Finally the weeners of the week, Captain Bean Counter and His Merry Band of Hookers.  I guess they deserve it after being ripped off a couple weeks ago.  Strong play and strong participation warranted a victory.  Congrats boys.

Net 31 was the best we could post this week for the Low Sandbagger, which was Jerry Hetmanek.

Finally - 50/50.  Another winner - Tom Basler.  $94 buckaroos.  Congrats.

Next week is a night off - it's Charity Classic Week.

The week after, July 22,  there will be a 1/4 chicken on the charcoal BBQ.  So if you can tear yourself away from "So you think you can Dance?" with your wife, or get permission to stay up past your usual 8 pm bedtime, stay for a cold one and some bird.  It does a body good.

Have a good weekend.  See you in two!
