Welcome to the Men's Day 2010 Season

Final Wrap Up Ramblings

Oct 5, 2010 | Posted by BP

Sorry for the delay in getting some stuff up here.  Running around for this wedding...

So I have a couple things to wrap up.  First, the last week of the season.  The Snap Hookers managed to win the final week of the playoffs, which bumped the Hack and Slashers out of the money.  Thanks a lot!  It wasn't the nicest of days, so the 9 person effort managed $22/person.

Chris Dietz was hot.  Really hot.  Take a moment to click on his score.  GROSS - 31, NET 29.  The lowest nine recorded in Men's League.  Very impressive way to make the wall of shame!  And definitely worth the $48 prize money he won from getting both the Net and Gross prizes.

The season is over, the dinner was served - by the way, if you missed it, you missed the best meal served ever at the club.  The Beef was to die for.

Curt McLaughlin was the lucky winner of the big secret draw prize this year.  This year's prize was a $1300 set of Titleist Irons.  Other draw prizes were for halves of the Hole in One fund.  $450/person, won by Todd Norman, and Dennis Nuhn.  This is just another perk for the guys that join men's night.  All players were in the draw that participated, not just the ones in attendance.

With another year in the books, thoughts have already turned to 2011.  As always, there are things we can do to improve upon an already great league.  Some great ideas have been suggested regarding the draft, and making sure teams are even more balanced coming out of the draft.  I am always open to suggestions.

The league was an unquestionable success this year.  With an average turnout of 103 players per week, and over $12,000 paid out in prize money, we have a league that is envied by most clubs.  But we could not do it without your participation!

Thanks for everything gentlemen.  See you in the spring!

Another great job Brenden! Just a newbie to the thing but I agree that the league at Listowel is the model for other clubs. It's very well organized and there's a good feel to the place on the league day. Thanks for everything you do for the guys (and gals).

Put your rain suit on and go ladies...

You're not made of sugar, put your rain suit on and get out there.... and if you don't have one, we'd be happy to sell you one.  There are some coats on the 50% off rack.

does anyone know what time the closing banquet is on thursday?

One more to go!

Sep 13, 2010 | Posted by BP

Cue the rally cries!  One more week to go.  One more week to gain some ground on those ahead, and unfortunately, one more week for the Thunder Chickens to cruise to their victory.

The now untouchable Thunder Chickens will hopefully do a NE Patriots and lose the final week.  That should allow some teams in the Championship side to suffle around before there are only a couple points between them.  It's a battle for second, and no one is a shoe-in.

The Whimper Hens sealed the deal last night by winning... again... god I'm sick of saying that.

The four one-syllabled Sandy Queens shared the low net pot last night.  Ron, Don, Paul and Ron, formerly a bad 70's pop band, all netted 32's last night, in their last performance to a sell-out crowd.  Well, not quite a sellout crowd due to the weather.

Lead singer of the band "Take me to Myrtle Beach," Peter Nichol, was again the Low Gross weiner... Firing an even par 36, despite the wind, mist, aerated greens and everything else mother nature could muster.

96 braved that weather all day, which is mighty impressive if you ask me.

And once again, my favorite time of the day - time to tease Pete Verbeek for not winning the 50/50.  This was another instance of friends not letting friends miss out...  You'd think with the army of Accountants, one of them would make sure the rest of their merry band of bean counters were all in the 50/50, since the $100 return on a $2 investment is pretty good!  But alas, they hung him out to dry.  So for that, we feel your pain Pete, but are glad you lost!

This is it.  Bring it on.  Time to separate the Chickens from the Turkeys!

It is pretty painful for us beancounters to part with our own $2 each week let alone throw in an extra $2 for someone else. PS - I can't believe you would make fun of me (enter sob story here)

HAHAHAHAHA.. I can almost see the tears flowing from here!
