Welcome to the Men's Day 2012 Season
May 25, 2012 | Posted by BPOne way to hold on the Scoring Average Lead..I guess Captain Thompson REALLY wants to hold on to the scoring average lead because he may only complete one round this season! Even though he only registered a DNF, he still manages to win thanks to his team carrying him on their backs. 252 was the lowest team score this week brought in by the Short Bus. In a strange week of scoring, 252 was good enough to win by one stroke over a pile of teams. This is the first time we've ever had a 3-way tie for 2nd. Thanks to the crowd splitting the pot, 2nd place paid out between a toonie and a toonie and a Caribou, depending on how many guys played on your team. The three way tie at 253 was between The Snap Hookers, The Hack and Slashers, and the Stiff Shafts. Frequent winner of the Low Gross award, Rod Sachs' 36 was good enough this week to take the title. Kenny Russell rattled off a blistering Net 29 to not only take the Low Net crown, but also help his team to split 2nd place.
Great turnout last night for a beautiful night for golf. As always, thanks for playing and have a great weekend!

In the feel good story of the week, it just goes to show you that it doesn't matter what you shoot, you could still win money! Take our very large, often colourful friend that is the size of the Eiffel Tower. We're not sure how he managed to shoot 53, but way to go sunshine, you still won 6 bucks! Some things never change either. The Flying Squirrel, as Coach likes to refer to him, the master of TV Sales and Sandbagging snuck his way onto the Low Net leaderboard again. Nice shooting Peter. In an unbelievable round of golf, Scott Thompson carded a 33 - which not only blew away the competition for Gross, but also snuck him into a tie for low Net as well. Great scoring! Craig Ruston was the last Amigo to join the Low Net party, getting 1/3 of the $18 Low Net Pot. Congratulations to Craig, Peter and Scott! Not only are you the winners of Low Net this week, but you also get the fabulous parting gift of being the first three on the wall of shame for netting a score in the 20's!
I see the team everyone loves to hate is back at the top. The Kentucky Fried Flapping Birds squeeked out a vicory over the Bean Counting Brigade. Captain Pudge's merry band of Chicken Tenders bested the competition with a total team score of 250. 250? Why so high you ask? Well, in a meeting of the minds via electronic mail this week, we decided we'd like to see more scores involved and fewer "Useless Bastards." So you will see we are now counting 2 Gross scores, and 5 Net scores. Isn't life grand? Finally, in the competition everyone has a chance at, the 50/50 winner this week is Gannon Harron. Have a great and safe long weekend folks. Looks like some great weather to play golf and there are a lot of times left for you!

| 0 Comments May 11, 2012 | Posted by BPCan't ask for better competition than that..By all accounts week one was a success! 107 players battled the slippery greens and breezy conditions to kick off men's day in style. Welcome to the many new players who have joined us not only in the league but at the club. First off - the strange winter weather and the right application of chemicals at the right time by our Superintendent, Chad Adamson has provided us unbelievable greens for the first week of the year. The conditions we enjoy are truly a priveledge! Now that we've padded Chad's ego a bit... now it's time to let you know how he tours the golf course: Start: Blue Tees - 6 millennium - Drive lands over the pond, next to the fescue on the far side of 4 Millennium - 2nd shot lands next to the tee block on 7 Millennium - 3rd shot on the green - sinks the putt for par... If you haven't played with Chad, it's quite the show to see.
Now, for those that played last year....our old friend is back to his old tricks. That coniving little englishman managed to sandbag his way to the top again yesterday. Not only did he take the sandbagger of the week title but also shares in the low gross! 37 was the lowest anyone could muster, and Keith, Rod Sachs, Kyle MacKenzie, and Terry Wick all managed it. We had a tie for the winning team, thus splitting 1st and 2nd place money. Jeff Sippel's team of Poles and Holes as well as Ward & Uptigrove and Friends both fired the fairly modest score of 2 over par. First lucky winner of the year for the 50/50 is Ron Wilson - getting $104 for his 2 dollar investment.
Thanks to everyone for playing! Reminder that Mother's Day is Sunday - don't forget!! B

| 0 Comments May 8, 2012 | Posted by BPHere we go!!!Teams are posted! Click Players/Teams to see the teams! Don't see your name, or forgot to sign-up? No problem - it's never too late to join in the fun. A couple items I'd like to address prior to the start to clear up some rumblings: All payouts are made to your club account. This is because we had over $16,000 in prize money paid out last year. Now - the answer should be obvious, however, if it's not jumping out at you - does it make sense to have this much prize money sitting around in envelopes for you to pick up? Out of the $5 entry fee 100% of the fees collected are paid out in prize money. We do not take anything out of the fee to run the league.
Players with a handicap of 16 (on 18 holes, thus 8 for 9) are allowed to play the white tees. Also, players 55 or older MAY play the white. Please ensure this is indicated on the scorecard or else your scores will be entered as playing the Blue Tees. The $2 50/50: The portion that is not paid out goes into the same prize fund as the end of year fund. This is why we are able to pay out significant amounts at the end of the season. Once again, ALL of the funds are dedicated to men's night prizes. 1 name only will be drawn each week - no pay = no win! You must play 7 times to be elligible for your team's end of year prize money. Please keep pace. We have a lot of guys trying to play before dark. There is no reason 9 holes should take more than 2 hours! Gimme's are acceptable, but must be reasonable, ie. roughly 12 inches.
If you have any questions, please see the Pro Shop staff or email me directly.
Thanks for playing! Play well!
