Welcome to the Men's League 2009 Season

Strange Days...

“I’m in the money... I’m in the money... dah da dah...” this is the song that was being sung by a certain Peter “Sax” Saxton as he skipped out of the proshop.  Firing a net score of 34, to take his team to the winning side of the draw, well done!

So this is the second week of paying out the winning teams.  Seems to be panning out well!  A very odd coincidence this week only the odd teams were on the victorious side.  Was this because the date was 09.09.09.  Is this some kind of sign from the Hades, if you flip these numbers completely upside down you will have the numbers of the devil.  Was a deal struck with Beelzebub to scorn the even numbered teams?   Not even Mr. Yvon Robichaud, with a career round of 73 could change the destiny of his EVEN numbered team #6.

On a quick note, Tony Feuz had a career round of 64 with a 3putt on 18.  Well done!

Use your head for more than a hat rack!

Excellent play for team 1 & 7, finishing the day in first and second.  It appears that Ken Bathurst has perfected the art of the double dip.  Not only is he on team 1, he hits it tight consistantly on hole #5.  The always stead Mr. John Bosak was the other "Closest to the Hole"  winner . Well done.

I am starting to notice a trend for some player's in our league.  I stressed this from the very beginning, that if you play, you will do well in the league.  Participation MONEY is divided among the players who participated the most.  Therefore, if you are on a lowsy team this year, and you continue to participate even though your team is not fairing well this season.  You will still earn prize money based on the number of times you played throughout the year.  Now saying this, typically these funds are only divided among the participants who only missed 0 to 3 weeks of the entire season.

So gentlemen, continue to play this year.  Remember you made a commitment to other players this year when signing up.

As discussed in the early stages of this season we are growing and continuing to adjust and adapt to our needs as a successful Men's League.  I look forward to a great finish to our first season of the new league format!

Double Dipping...

Aug 14, 2009 | Posted by The Commissioner

Is it a sign of the times or has the year 2000 has produced a greedier population.  We have watched week after week, Mr. Dieter Goettling double dipping in our Men's League.  This week Dieter is completely shut out from any prize money.  Maybe after last weeks blog Mr. Goettling, became more conservative and is thinking more about his precious team 7.   This week it is Mr. Ken Bathurst who has decided to double dip in the prize money.  Well done on the closest to the hole and your team finishing tied for first.  Also, Mr. Fred Doucette knocking it in tight for the other closest to the hole competition, well done!

Lightning in a bottle... does it strike twice?

Aug 8, 2009 | Posted by The Commish...

It was only a week ago, that I was speaking of the mighty feat of breaking the 130 mark.  Team 6, amused at last weeks all time low score makes their own attempt at the record books.  Mr. Mike Hudson throws up a low gross score of 35.  Why that morning, Mr. Dan Green was telling me how awful his golf game has been this season.   Mr. Ross Dunbar and Mr. Ken Romanuk putting up scores anyone would be pleased to shoot.  Well done team 6!

Like Mr. Goettling the week prior, Mr. Romanuk was double dipping in the prize money this past week.  Firing at all the pins, he managed to capture the closest to the hole on #5.

Mr. Russell Petts, being the other closest to the hole winner this week.  Well done gentlemen!

There has been much talk about Mr. Dieter Goettling’s play this season.  Even from the early parts of the season, people had been speaking about the removal of his patent “hitch”.  Now the story is Mr. Goettling is only playing for his own gain firing at all pins.  As you know, he is cleaning up this season.  Being the leading money winner by massive $26 dollar lead, it is believed that he is firing at all pins with no regard for his precious team 7.  Keep it going Dieter!
