The Tides Have Turned

The 2010 season has brought plenty of change.  The most noted change is the thrashing of the Bend Bandits, captained by last year's heavy weight Champ, Tony Feuz.   The general feeling is that it is going to be a Jack Nash Drive year.  Captain of the Weed Wacker's Mr. Vernon Robinson, made the remark during the Meet your team evening, that his team was wondering who plans on coming in second this year?  Just a few doors down from Mr. Vern Robinson is Mr. Dave Street who helped carry his team to a win, shooting a 35 on the front. 

Mr. Tony Priamo and Mr. John Toomath both hotter than a pistol, firing a tidy net 32.  Well done gentlemen!

These two guys are not known for their accuracy, but this weeks winners of the closest to the hole on #5 Mr. Grant Boland and on hole #8 Mr. Barry Matthews.  Mr. Boland somehow managed to double dip this past week making him the overall money leader after the first week of play.

This looks like it will be an entertaining season, play hard gentlemen!

WHERE ARE THEY NOW !!! Four or five years ago the Oakville Golf Club had a few guys that were showing a little promise at the club level in the world of golf . Schiller , McMaster and Hudson were all great ball strikers - lots of potential - but, mentally they all came up a little short.When their mentor , ( a great golfer in his own right ) advised them that they did not have a future at Oakville they all moved to River Bend , a nice community where they were very liberal with gimmees and they did not have to face the constant pressure of competition !! This reporter is pleased to find that all three of the former OGC members are doing just great in their mens league !! Hudson has won $25 - Schiller and McMaster have each won $20 - enough money to buy their grandchildren a couple of icecream bars.!! Golf Digest has reviewed the course at River Bend and there is no doubt is has a five star rating !!! However, they could be a little more selective in their membership admissions . Its OK guys -- nobody is perfect.

What happened to the weekly updates like we had last year? I rather enjoyed them and they certainly added to the league.
