Welcome to the Men's Day 2010 Season
PINKYMay 19, 2010 | Posted by Ken HundertTuesday May 18 - Week # 3 PINKY A nickname is often born when an action or trait is so similar or so opposite to an individual. This year the Men’s league has introduced team shirts. This can only add to the fun experience at Stratford. There is one individual, may I call him, “ The Johnny Cash of Golf” who is married to the colour black. When Rick Fry was appointed captain, he never expected to draw pink as his team’s colour. This shocking revelation can only give birth to “ Pinky” the captain of team eight. The following are the team colours. Please let your captain know your size as soon as possible. What the hell are energy, waite and sprout ? Team 1 – John Tafts (sprout) team 2 – Brian Blowes (energy) Team 3 - George Brown (royal purple) Team 4– Frank Mark (vivid green) team 5 – Miles Tourigny (black) Team 6 – Glenn McCann (canary) team 7 – Paul Benjamin (red) Team 8 – Rick Fry (pink) team 9 – J.D.Graham (waite) Team 10 – Ross Yantzi (navy) team 11 – Paul Lobsinger (orange) Team 12 – John Liotta (lime green) With the rain out last week, we host two Draw Showdowns . week two picks including, Ross Snider, Mike Maslen, Randy Benjamin, Bob Taylor, Pat Healy, Jeff Mavity, Larry Landreth, Ken Brooks, Jeff McPherson, Ted Hopkinson, Sean Atkinson and Tyler Devereaux. The low net winner was Ted Hopkinson and week three picks including S Geoff Grimes, Doug Pinder, Kevin Smith, Dan Flemming, Alan Zordrager, John Campbell, Brian T. Smith, Brian W. Smith, Gary Arnstowski, Gary Yantzi, Ken Musselman and Tim Taylor The low net winner was Doug Pinder Next week’s forth round picks include Don Galloway, Ken Chisholm, Murray Schiedel, Ken Keegan, Elmer Dredge, Pat Schooley, Mike Gulas, Don Wright, Perry Hill, Brian Shakleton, Larry Hofheinz and Pat Simmons Hot Number : Last week the hot number was gross 41. The following shot the number. Geoff Grimes , Ken Chisholm , Paul Shantz, Frank Mark, Ken Delaat , Eli Bernard, Jim Rogers, Gary Lobsinger and Bill Preston. This week the hot number is gross 40. The only player remaining and winner is Bill Preston. Today was the first time we played off the back nine. Today was also one of the rare weeks when Dave Lee has been able to crow that he had no drinks to buy in beat the Pro. Maybe there is a secret preference for our second nine. We could be playing the back nine more often than expected. Team twelve and team five rest atop the standings with two wins. This team success was accomplished with both captains Miles Tourigny and John Liotta on the “useless bastards” list. Craig Pearce has two hands firmly gripping the Men’s Day bag of sand with a low net score of thirty. Joe Stumpf clearly does not have a preference as to front or back nine . Last season, he was the most useless bastard on more than one occasion on the front nine course. He is our first most useless bastard on the back nine course. He does, of course, have the best chance for most improved golfer as Craig Pearce did this week. The closest to hole today on hole ten was Doug Barkman and hole thirteen was Chris Buhrow. Congratulations. We also congratulate those golfers who landed closest to the markers on the hole eighteen drive. Today’s winners were Mike Maslen, Peter Hiller and Kirk Baillie. In this week’s Pot-of Gold Putt-off there were eight fine attempts but nothing dropped into the hole. Next week’s golfers will be playing for $ 500.00. Next week we will be playing the black tee blocks. If you are playing a make-up round for next Tuesday make sure you play the black tee. This week’s steak barbecue was popular. Next week there will be another menu delight.
