Welcome to the Men's Day 2010 Season
PULLING A PINDERJun 23, 2010 | Posted by Ken HundertPulling A Pinder One minor action or indiscretion can invariably define one’s life. One innocent mistake can result in an avalanche of whispers and a tornado of taunts. Doug Pinder has cascaded into a noun of action. He wasn’t even a putting contestant last night and yet his name rang out, linked to Barry Cameron. Eight putters attempted to grab a pot of $ 1000.00. by sinking a putt. “Don’t pull a Pinder” echoed as participants were addressing the golf ball. Who knows how long we will hear the phrase, “I pulled a Pinder”, when a member stubs the ground with his putter. Next week, eight names will be drawn. Next week, eight putters will be ready to capture the Pot of $1125.00.
Recognizing Those Who Step Up I am hoping that enough members will read this blog and take the time to thank the individuals who stepped up to absorb the costs of our team shirts. We might inquire about their companies. These generous individuals are helping our Men’s Day grow while helping to keep costs down. Draw Showdown: This week’s round eight picks were Kyle Harrison, Sean Hall, Mark Monteith, Jeff Orr, Geoff Cheney, Henry Kim, Bob Shepherd, Jamie Nigro, Rob Lewis, Bob Downham, Darryl Berg and Dominic Gaffney. The winner of the fifteen-dollar draw showdown is Bob Downham with a net 35. Next week’ s ninth round participants will be Barry Cameron, Grant Hernden, Bill Schafer, Ed Francis, Tim Adlington, Brantly McLoed, Myron Rudiak, David Rose, Ross McPherson, Erik Anderson, Jim Veitch and Tim Rau. We recognize Brett Melton for our low-gross player from this week’s black tees. He shot a superb round of 33 and certainly deserves a drink from Dave. The focus on low-net rests with Dan Peters and Bob Callingham Your thirty-one net score wins you top honours at the top of the sand pile. Members might be aware that no player may win a low gross or low net prize more than one time in a four-week period .Dom Gaffney’s 50 net landed him at the other end of the scoring continuum with a most useless bastard label. He will try and match Barrie Beech who won the most improved golfer this week. The closest to hole today on hole four was Mike Gulas and hole eight was Paul West. Congratulations. We also recognize those golfers who landed closest to the markers on the hole-eighteen drive. Today’s winners were Mark Marshall, Sean Atkinson and Kevin Smith. We thank you sponsors. Ken Hundert |
