Welcome to the Men's League 2010 Season
Jul 15, 2010 | Posted by SudsyScores Entered are Final !!!Boys, There have been some concerns about scores being entered and then discovered as being wrong. This will be remedied in the following manner: - If you or someone in your group hands in the scorecard, those scores shall count as added up by your playing partner - we cannot check the addition on over 120 scorecards each week...please check that your scores are correct before you hand them in
- If we have entered a score erroneously, we will fix it and any changes may alter the results, and we will fix these
- if you entered a score wrong and it is higher, the higher number will count for the weekly game
- if you entered a score and it is lower than it actually was, you will be out for that week (except for the participation points)
These are rules of golf, not our rules, so please check your numbers before handing them in.
Good luck and play well.
Sudsy

| 0 Comments Jun 26, 2010 | Posted by SudsyFeedback on the NEW system???Hello All, I was just wondering what everyone thought of the new system??? It seems to be going quite well...unless you are on Team Focus!!! Just kidding Cookie and all his teammates...but a few more wins will make me start to rip on some other team. The noise and excitement in the lounge has been great on the nights where I could stay around to experience it anyway. I would love to get people to post comments on this blog to make the whole system even better. If you have a comment or a slam against one of the other teams, feel free to post it here. It is a tight race for first so far, and those participation points are really making a big difference in teams' standings, so make sure you come out as often as you can to help the team. We all know that school is out soon and cottages and boats and life will soon get in the way of some Thursday's, but the more people that play, the better the league works. Make sure you book a tee time for July 2nd (Friday) as we are still going to have Men's League that day, but the tee is NOT going to be fully blocked off to Men's league players only...this is to make up for July 1st as the holiday and the Red & White event are happening that day. Play Well,
Jeff
Posted by: KEfty | Jun 26, 2010 08:52 AMI think it's been a great upgrade to our league night. I finally feel like I'm part of a club. I actually heard some guys ripping on each other about their teams, etc. which is cool. Good work boys and kudos to the committee for having the foresight to get it started.
Posted by: Tom Terrific | Jun 27, 2010 09:01 AMI love what you're doing guys although a little more back and forth with the blog and the comments would help make it more fun. Some clubs are very active on their websites. The money list is cool.
Posted by: Sully | Jun 29, 2010 02:19 PMI hear you Tommy. Where are all the loudmouths now that we need them?!? Good job with this guys. I think everyone is thoroughly enjoying the new format.
Posted by: | Jul 7, 2010 11:27 AMIt's been an exciting and fun year so far Suds, I'm really enjoying this format. After seven weeks now it will be interesting to see the impact of the full system handicaps kicking in (the handicaps are based on best four of past seven games). If you go really low one week, the handicap will change quite significantly.
Two concerns: one is that the score entry needs to be audited now and again. Last week our lowest gross score was not entered by the pro shop, and if we hadn't hung around until late and noticed, the score may never have been entered! Another concern is the playoff structure. What incentive is there to finish first??? We can whip our players into coming out and finishing first in the regular season, but there is no advantage to this that I can tell. Winning regular season in most sports imparts playoff advantage (home field, etc), but in this league, diddly squat. The commish needs to rethink this one.
Apr 6, 2010 | Posted by The Committee2010 Men's LeagueWelcome to the new West Haven Men's League website! The Committee is excited to announce we are using a new scoring system specifically designed for our league at West Haven. Thanks to this unique web based program players can track their individual and team performance and we now have the ability to display live scoring on the TV in the lounge! The idea behind the program is simple... the more you play, the better it is for you and your team. Teams will do battle in a season-long round robin with the winners of each weekly match earning 10 points, 5 points per team if there is a tie and 0 for teams that lose. The most important aspect of the scoring is participation - teams receive 1 point for each participant regardless of their performance as long as they reach the minimum number of players required to post a team score (six). Our goal is to have 10 teams of 12 players each but we'll adjust things based on the sign-up. Team scores will be determined by the total of the 2 lowest gross score and the 4 lowest net scores. Those that don't count toward the team total can almost assuredly count on being singled out, ridiculed and suitably labeled as Useless Bastards on both the TV and in this very space. They will, however, earn a valuable participation point and, of course, they can always step it up and count the following week. One of the high-lights of the program is the actual real-time scoring. As the Pro Shop staff enter scores throughout the day the standings, individual results and Team vs. Team information is updated in real-time on the Internet. People that aren't able to play or those poor souls stranded at the office until later in the day can log onto the site (www.golfscoring.net/westhaven) to see how their team is doing. We strongly encourage everyone to save this website address into your "favourites" file. Another bonus is the program actually maintains a separate league handicap so there is no need to worry about each team being balanced with an equal number of liars, lowlifes, sandbaggers and cheats. League handicaps will automatically be updated and applied based solely on your league scores. That, my friends, is pretty damn good. The committee is excited about the possibilities of this program and we are looking forward to a great year. If you have any questions regarding the program please speak to Tim Churchill (tchurchill@westhavengolf.com) or one of the guys in the Golf Shop and please remember to check back here often. There will be periodic updates. Let's make this a great year!
That is all,
The Committee Posted by: Dennis Jewlal | Jun 6, 2010 11:16 PMHow does the Super league work?
How does the money pay outw work?
Posted by: Sudsy | Jun 26, 2010 06:54 AMI am not too sure how the Super League works...I will check with Pat on that one and get back to you.
As for the payout for the end of the year, we will be dividing the teams into an A Flight and a B Flight after week 18, then we will have a 4 week playoff season where you will play each team in your flight once and top points get top place and money. The monies paid out will be dependant on amounts left over in the fund...TBD at this point still.
Hope this helps,
Jeff
Posted by: The Commish | Aug 14, 2010 08:11 AMThe Commish has taken Jonsey comments under advisement and decided that if Jonsey and his whining Hosel Rockets manage to hang on to first place, the Commish will allow the Hosel Rockets to play all their playoff matches at West Haven and not have any away play off matches at Oxbow, Thames or Maple Ridge!!!!!!!!!!
