Week 4 of the playoffs is in the books and the Champions have been crowned. 

It wasnt much of a race in the top pool as the 19th Hole had an insermountable lead going into the final week.  The sleepers put in a good effort by posting the low team score of the week but came up short and finished the year in 2nd place.  The 2008 Men's Day champions are the 19th Hole, led by this weeks low gross winner Ross Eisele.

In the Honest Pool the Fescuse Me team limped it home sneaking out the playoff victory by a measly 3 points.  Well done gentlemen.

The best race in the playoffs was in the Good but No Chemistry pool as the Aces won the week.  Because of this weeks victory they also won the division title by 6 points over Off in the Bunker.

Currently we are tallying up the totals and will be making the payouts in the very near future.  You shop accounts will be credited and the money list will be updated as soon as we have all the numbers figured out.

A special congratulations goes out to Ian Shipp who counted the only Hole In One of the men's day season and takes home the big pay cheque.   Congrats Ian!!!

Thanks to everyone who participated this year, it has been an amazing men's day season.

MEN'S DAY CLOSING BANQUET IS ON OCTOBER 1ST.  THE COST OF THIS BANQUET WAS INCLUDED IN THE YEARLY FEE SO PLEASE COME OUT AND ENJOY THE MEAL.  IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY, PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE PROSHOP SO WE CAN HAVE AN IDEA OF HOW MANY WILL BE COMING TO THE DINNER.

One Week to go

One week to go!!!
What the heck is going on, we hear no chatter on the patio! its playoff time. No fights! No high sticks!   Not even someone driving over their clubs. 19th  hole lead by their  little captain isn’t saying a word. Come on sleepers you can take them downnext week . Or are you going to give  this thing to them, they have had a cushy lead all year! I guess the teams are fair this year eh Ross!
How about that fescuse me team. They have won every week in the playoffs to bad there is no money for low every week eh boys!!! Flack must have tuned up those boys and told them he was going to kick the .....well you know.
We have a nice battle in the 3rd division with only 7 points separating all 4 teams but really what are they playing for a pop vs a coffee. No pressure.
Well its our last week so get out and make the guys you are playing sweat a bit.

Maybe the captains this year spent to much time emailing and not talking to thier own team!  hmmmmm what do you think!  and dont be afraid to post a comment either.  How about the director of golf playing 9 holes by himself and shooting 42.  if i play by myself i wouldnt be over par i can tell you that..

Week 1 - Playoffs

The playoffs are under way and a great week it was.  Finally some nice weather and some great participation.

Thanks to the Volvo Amateur team who came out and added some extra excitement.  Whistle Bear provided them with a record number of participants with over 200 players signing up. 

Matt Sim and Jack Fitzgerald qualified to compete at the regional competition, well done guys.

PLAYOFFS!

So here we are...playoff time.  The teams have been placed into pools and we are ready to go. 

Playoff Pools are as follows

Cheaters Pool

19th Hole, Sleepers, Taylor Made, Chip and a Putt

Honest Pool

Shanks a lot, Fescuse Me, hole Outs, Ayr Bears

Good but no chemistry pool

Iron Eagles, Aces, Off in the Bunker, Pinseekers

The playoffs will consist of 4 weeks.  Teams will start with the points that they earned in the regular season. Each week we will award points based on each teams finish in their respective pools for that week.  Points will increase by 25% each week.  Participation points will also be added to these points. 

Weekly points

Week 1 - 1st  - 10, 2nd - 6 3rd - 3, 4th - 0

Week 2 - 1st  - 12, 2nd -8, 3rd - 4, 4th - 1

Week 3 - 1st  - 15, 2nd -10, 3rd - 5, 4th - 2

Week 4 - 1st  - 20, 2nd -12 3rd - 6, 4th - 3

At the end of the four weeks we will payout each team based on their playoff performance in their pool.  Payouts will be divided among players on each team based on their individual participation for the entire season (not just playoffs).

Reminder - Cobble Beach day away in on September 3rd.  We need 36 participants to make this trip a go.  Currently we have 20 people signed up.  If we do not have 36 by this Friday the trip will be cancelled so please email brad@whistlebear.ca if you are interested.
