Sep 19, 2019 | Posted by Ken HamiltonSeptember 19 UpdateWe are down to our final two teams for 2019!! And it a funny coincidence it is the same two teams from last year (Lake View vs Punchbowl). We will be using the same format as we have done all season – low 5 net scores count towards the team total and all players from the two teams who play will garner their team a participation point. Keep in mind that should things be a tie the participation points can factor in hugely. In the event of a full tie after everything is done, the Team Captains will have a shootout from the 100 marker on the 9th – closest to the pin wins for their team!
Tomorrow night will be our Final with the two teams vying for the OB Cup! Winners get their names on the trophy, get to drink out of the trophy and win $25 prize vouchers to be used towards any purchase in the clubhouse.
Entry fee is $5/player this week – that money will go into skins, gross/net scoring and the yearly putt.
Dinner this week is Lasagna with garlic bread and is being picked up by the league as a thank you to all of our players.
Tomorrow is the last day for all players to sign up for Saturday’s Closing Scramble.
We are kicking things up a bit at the scramble this year with a raffle – we are offering a set of Cleveland Irons, Cleveland wedges, a range finder, golf bags, balls, hats, etc. Tickets will be 5 for $5 or an arm length for $20. Retail value of the items being raffled off is almost $2000!!! Tickets will be cash sales only please.
Saturday we will be having the yearly putt – A Flight and B Flight (flights to be determined by number of players and will be evenly split). Pot for the putt is $750 so $375 for each flight. Any players who have not played a minimum of 8 games will not be eligible to putt unless you buy in for $50. The putt off is a single elimination putt – 10 footer. You sink it and you move to next round, you lose and you are done. The format is followed until we have a winner in each flight.
We will also be paying out our Ringer Board Pot – approximately $700. We will be paying out Low Gross and Low Net Ringer Board scores from each flight. $115 per flight so the split will be $60/$35/$20 for each of Gross and Net in A,B,C flights.

Our yearly putt prize fund is up to $655. This should be close to $750 for the putt off at our year end banquet on September 21st. If the weekly putt is not made between now and then we will simply add the money in that into the yearly pot. Our Chase the Ace pot is getting quite high – please note that you need to have played in the league that night (or day if it comes down to the final day) to be able to purchase tickets. Please note that even though we are into the playoffs we will still be doing all the normal games so please make sure to come out for our final two weeks. Sign up sheet for the year end banquet will be upstairs tonight – if you have not signed up, please do so tonight or next Thursday. If you have not signed up by next Thursday night (Sep 19), you will not be able to play on Saturday. Forecast is cool and breezy tonight so dress appropriately!

Grand View and Punch Bowl are guaranteed spots in the semi finals. The Crest is in pretty good shape as well so it looks like it is down to Lake View and The Gap vying for the last spot! Sign up sheets will be up this week for the 3 man scramble on Sep 5 as well as our year end banquet day on September 21. For our rookies, our year end finale is another scramble with pari mutual betting, the yearly putt off (pot is over $600 now) and a fantastic dinner to cap of the season. You MUST sign up for the year end banquet no later than September 19. Our scramble next week will be starting at 5:15pm sharp. If you sign up and can’t make it by 5:15pm please note that on the sheet – you will have to join your team on the course when you arrive. The final two weeks (Sep 12 and Sep 19) will be 5:00pm starts. Please note that even if your team did not make the semi finals or finals, we will still be having our individual weekly games for the $10. Thanks guys. Ken

Tomorrow is our annual 3 man scramble (flighted A,B,C) so please plan on arriving by 5:15pm latest if you have registered. If you have not please email me or plan on arriving at 5:00pm latest. We will be doing the draw at 5:15pm so we can then do pari-mutuals outside – planned starting time is 5:45pm. Your weekly $10 fee for the game will include ½ power cart tomorrow as I would like all players to ride. Forecast is hot, hot, hot and with the scramble it makes things easier all the way around if all players are riding. Cash games being contested tomorrow: weekly putt, yearly putt, circle hole and all closest to the pins. Pari-mutuals tomorrow will be paid out on gross score only – 1st (70% of the pot) and 2nd (30% of the pot). Results and standings below:
