Welcome to the Men's League 2020 Season

Playoffs?!? You Talkin' Bout Playoffs???

     You heard the man... It's time to grow your beards cause we're headin’ to the Post Season!  How does it all work, you ask?  Well, this nifty Q & A that should explain it perfectly;

League Playoffs  -  Q & A

Q: What is the format?

A: The format of our Playoffs is similar to the FedExCup format, yet is still accompanied by the participation points.  Simply stated, each team competes against the other teams for a piece of the weekly purse, which is represented by points.  The lower your team's score, the more points your team will earn for that particular week.

Q: What happens to the points my team earned during the regular season?

A: Teams will start the playoffs with all of the points they accumulated during the Regular Season.

Q: How are the points distributed during the playoffs?

Position Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4
1st 23 29 36 45
2nd 20 25 31 39
3rd 17 21 27 33
4th 14 18 22 27
5th 11 14 17 21
6th 8 10 13 16
7th 5 6 8 10
8th 2 3 3 4

Q: Will participation still count?

A: Absolutely! Participation Points will be added to the Performance Points listed above.

Q: What does it all mean, man?

A: The team in 1st place at the conclusion of the Playoffs will be our Men's League Champions!  A distinction that admittedly carries little weight out in the real world.  Beyond that, not a whole hell of a lot.

Q: How long will the playoffs run?

A: The playoffs will run for four weeks - Wednesday September 2nd, Wednesday September 9th, Wednesday September 16th and Wednesday September 23rd.

That is all,

Week 1 Recap

Hope everyone enjoyed the first round of our scored mens league and also enjoyed that awesome meal prepared by Chef Andrew and his staff.

I mentioned to most of you last night but we offer a weekly BBQ menu like the one offered last night. The specials vary each week and can be found on our website at; http://pipersheath.com/the-weekly/. The ordering instructions as well as pick up times can all be found on the link provided.

As for the scoring last night we had a great turnout resulting in a lot of "useless bastards" (for the new guys, if you dont fall in the top 7 on your team in terms of scoring you fall into that category) we have had some good laughs in the past over the category. But with that being said I appreciate the attendance last night as it helped make the food takeaway a very successful night.

WE ARE SCHEDULED  EVERY WEDNESDAY until the end of August.

See you all next Wednesday!

2020 Men's League

Welcome back to all our returnees and an official welcome to everyone who is new to the league!  Looking forward to a fun season ahead.

As we know, our aim is to have our men’s league take place on Wednesday nights however it is very tough accommodating one night all year. There are a few nights that fall on either Tuesday’s or Thursday’s. The full schedule will be posted shortly so you can plan those off days accordingly.

For the 14-week regular season, teams will compete in head to head matches. Teams that win each of their weekly matches will earn 10 points, losing team earning 0 points, and if a tie then each team will be rewarded 5 points.  Supporting your team and attending as many weeks as possible is essential with this team format.  Each team, in addition to the weekly match up points (0, 5, or 10 points), will also earn a single bonus point for every score posted by the team once you reach the minimum required (7 scores).

The scoring system automatically calculates and maintains a league handicap based strictly on your league scores (outside scores don’t contribute to men’s league handicap). Handicaps are determined using the four best league scores out of your last seven league scores.  Like your regular Golf Canada handicap, league handicaps carry forward from year to year.

League Scoring

Scoring will be done based of the NCAA model of team golf.  A team score will be determined by the total of the three (3) lowest gross scores and the four (4) lowest net scores. The lowest gross scores are determined first and then the lowest net scores are determined from the scores that are still available (if you are using your score for gross, it may not be used for net). In order for your team to make any points on the match ups you must meet the requirement of at least 7 scores being entered from your team. If you do not meet the minimum of 7 scores your entire team will be rewarded with 0 points.

That is all,
